Yes, Jeff “Never Had a Smart Look on His Face” Wilpon is the biggest problem. But seemingly unsolvable.
Yep. You can't fire the owners. People can shout at the top of their lungs that the Wilpons must go. But they ain't going. We Met fans can either accept that or find another team to support.

Theyre not going anywhere. How else could they easily come up with their development on the old auto shops and the Belmont Arena if theyre not with the Mets?

This bullpen is killing us, I have never seen anything this bad...Though, with JF- BVW only mistake was the contract. To sign him as an 8th inning guy was in itself not a bad move. If you look at his career that covers a lot of pitching- he is a low 3 era with good stuff. And Wilson being out all year kills us as well. He is another really solid RP over his career. If we had these 2 guys pitching just to their normal type of year, we would most likely have an additional 8 wins at this point if not more.
And I'm sorry, MC firing the PC is like Ash firing the DC...Only, I have not seen our pitching get better. But that was supposed to be MC's big thing and I see Thor getting worse, Matz falling apart, Wheeler have no clue, Diaz worse, Familia a mess - these guys actually look like they have no confidence out there. MC- is bad enough with roster and game moves but I could live with that if he was doing the other things he is supposed to be doing.

Any sports writers get abused by the Mets after the latest debacle ?
No, but come the Epic Fall/fail in October, Yankee fans, who only post in October"when the real season starts", will be getting in bar fights again!!! Ask one of the 3 Amigos who didn't show up for 3 weeks after the Fail, because supposedly he was injured in a bar fight over the Yankees. Yea,Helloooo!!!

This bullpen is killing us. . . .
But fixing is won't make us contenders. The problems are broader. The hitting is firmly mediocre no matter what stats you run, not top end. The starting pitching is the same, more promise (other than de Grom) than consistent, excellent performance. And the defense is dreadful.

This team isn't a relief pitcher or two away. It needs someone who knows how to gather talent everywhere across a roster. And the last person in a front office in the MLB who you would pick to do that is Van Wagon Wheel.

I'm usually against boycotting your sports team, but in this case, Mets fans should organize a planned boycott just outside Citi Field the next home game.

Not inside the property. Don't give the Wilpons parking money.

But a large protest and boycott. Don't use or sell your tickets, eat them.

Notify the media so you get press attention

Your owners don't care about winning.

It kills me when people say if the Mets can just fix the bullpen they'll have a chance in the second half. Everything needs to be looked at in totality and not in isolation because if the Mets do get a couple of arms for second half who's to say that Alonso won't slump or that McNeil won't continue to bat .340, and there's no way in hell Frazier will be batting .270 when it's all said and done. Mets are what they are, mediocre, and a couple of relief arms ain't solving it.

1. BULLPEN KILLS THE METS: Boomer said this morning that the Mets bullpen have already blown 18 games when they have the lead past the 7th inning. IS THIS TRUE??? EIGHTEEN BLOWN SAVES???? I cant find the link for that stat but thats insane... even for the Mets.

2. ROBINSON CANO KILLS THE METS: If last night does not tell you how much he means to the Mets, NOTHING WILL!!!!! This guy was the only starter on both clubs who went hitless in last night's game going 0-5 with 7 LOB. And he's supposed to get worse as he gets older.

And of course watch Jared Kelenic become the next Cody Bellinger and Dunn becomes the next Verlander lol.

3. Instead of getting Chaim Bloom, who have been a part of building the whole Tampa Rays organization into a very competitive one with half the budget of the other AL East organizations, the Wilpons get their ultimate puppet in BVW, who will do their bidding while signing or aquiring his old clients to ridiculous contracts. And he shows how much he really knows how to be the GM as he somehow contacts the dugout to get Mickey to take out deGrom. This would also explain on why Cano keeps hitting third this year. This would also explain how Mickey Callaway went from pitching guru to front office doof in less than 2 years.

4. Im not saying Mickey wouldve been Tony LaRussa, Bruce Bochy, or Terry Francona. But this guy was a pitching expert and was key in getting that Cleveland staff in order. Theres no way he have turned into me in two short years without the interference from BVW and/or the Wilpons.

4. Hell, check out Terry Collins interview on MLB Network when he said that his lineup cards were already made out on his desk before the game. So no matter who's the GM or the Manager, all of this bullsh** will continue as long as Jeff Wilpon runs the team and Fred Wilpon owns it. Its too bad MLB will not do a thing the same way they forced McCord to sell the Dodgers, who are looking pretty damm great under new ownership.

Oh well...

The only thing funnier than listening to Mets fans predict the Yankees future is listening to them talk about how close the Amazins are to contending.

Callaway is trying to be fired. He is furious. That’s why he leaked story to the post. Only the manager would have that detail. A player wouldn’t know.
Callaway is at war with BVW now and is angry.

MLB forced the McCords to sell because of economics. They won't force an owner to sell for bad management.

Or it was a recent pitching coach who just fired?

A recent pitching coach who was fired would still be loyal to Callaway or at least like him enough that he wouldn’t leak a story like this that could hurt callawsys career without his authority.
Also funny the timing of the leak. Right after the flare up in the locker room. Mets make Callaway call reporters back in to apologize after he already explains it. Very humiliating.
Think Callaway wants out. He can’t work with BVW.

And now Rosario heading to center field.

Can’t wait to he misplays first ball or hits wrong cutoff that cost Mets game.

#LolMets

And the Mets haven’t been that unsuccessful. There just terribly mediocre. And they do spend money. Just foolishly.
It’s not like they are losing 120 games every year with no payroll.

I think most of us realize we need quite a bit to be considered a contender but this is the best young core of players we have had in a long time. Now we just need a competent GM and owner to fill in the pieces. Unfortunately, current leadership may have cock blocked anything someone with a brain could try to do...

1) Mets have 17 blown saves, most in the majors. Keep in mind that blown saves and blown games are not identical. A blown save is always on the bullpen. A starter can blow a lead. Also, you can have two or more blown saves in one game. One pitcher can blow a save in the eighth, then you retake the lead, then another pitcher can blow a save in the ninth. Plus, you can blow a save, and come back to win the game.

2-3) Nothing to add, other than we must let it go about Kelenic and Dunn. They'll be around for the next 15-20 years. That's a long time to keep making ourselves crazy!

4) Selig forced McCourt (not McCord) to sell because the Dodgers were insolvent. The league will never force the Mets sale as long as the Wilpons are paying the bills. Nor should it.

This is about the only way things will change. The worst thing that could have happened was the Mets making the WS in 2015. That gives the Wilpons about another 10 years to penny-pinch while fans begrudgingly forgive them for mediocrity. Mets fans need to stop going to the games...period. The Wilpons are a cancer
Similar to the Knicks’ Dolans. They do just enough to give fans some hope while they sit back, count their money and laugh.

Difference between Dolan and Wilps is that people paid at least $70 on Stubhub for a last place Knicks team who will always sellout MSG. Mets fans gotta give the Wilps the Tampa Rays treatment.

Oh man- at 4-1, Lockett had a chance for a win. 4-2, he will be lucky to get a ND at best

Lockett actually did pretty good tonight. It was 5-2 when the bullpen came in in the bottom of the 6th.

Its now 5-4.

And as soon as I typed this, Franco hits a 2 run homer for the Mets' 19th blown game by the bullpen.

Awful
Just when you say this is the worst pitching I have ever seen ....a new season begins and it’s gets worse
