South Jersey

We had mission impossible and the escape room all last week .

Now it’s Mlb net promo every half inning

They always suck me back in. Can we just drop Cano in the lineup?

How did Astros get $24 million out of $53 million remaining on contract from the Diamondbacks for a pitcher who is a perennial Cy Young candidate and we get $20 million out of $120 million remaining on contract for a guy who was coming off a steroid suspension?

Mickey addressed that point. He said he might have done that if Smith were still available, but since he is not, he's not sure he has any better options. (Don't shoot the messenger.)

I'd be inclined to stick Rosario in the 2 hole, hit Conforto cleanup, and drop Cano down to seven or eight. But it's not my call. TBH I doubt it's Mickey's either.

Let's not get into that on a win streak lol.

Just let the umpire play second!!! He can probably hit better than Cano.

That ump called it well. We got screwed on 2 reviews tonight though. The Hech call at second and then the big fair/foul line. How do they not have that extended??

I saw that as well and agree with everything in this post. Would like to get Alonso some protection so was thinking Mcneil, Rosario, Alonso, Conforto, Davis, Cano, Ramos, Whoever.

The Hech call was never reviewed. Mets had no challenges left and for some reason did not ask for an umpire review. All they can do is say no.

No problem with the replay booth decision on the Davis ball. Absent a foul line, the call was impossible to overturn IMO.

I meant early in the game the play at 2B. They called Hech out at 2B even though he was safe. The RF Jay trapped the ball and hid it unknowingly so Hech got caught up but still barely made it to 2B.

As for no foul line yes but game should have been under protest immediately.

We also got Seattle to assume about $40M for Bruce and Swarzak. So taking that into consideration, they covered about half of Cano's contract.

Its not a bad idea but maybe the reason Conforto has gotten hot is because Polar bear is behind him. Anyway, no changes during a streak!

The experts have a problem with the Mets winning now. They felt the Mets should still have been sellers because the win streak is against weaker competition. Wait, just three weeks ago the Mets were the weaker competition. The experts can't have it both ways. Now, they are saying wait until the Mets play teams like Washington, Atlanta, and Philly. Those teams will show the Mets run is a little late and false hope.

The Mets will have a boatload of games within the division plus those outsides of the division are mostly against sub .500 teams like Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Arizona, etc. This is why you play the games. The Mets have played an unbalanced schedule that had them on the road more than home and against more .500+ teams than most others.

The Mets will be in it as long as they pitch well. Right now the starters are hitting a grove. If ,and its a BIG if, GMan, Lugo Wilson and Diaz can hold leads this team could be in it till the end despite inconsistent hitting and sub par fielding.

Maybe Familia and Diaz can revert back what they normally do and the defense gets better. Cano is absolutely killing us they need to drop him down already.

During the broadcast last night, I thought I heard Ron and Gary say that Mickey said he can't do that without Dom in the lineup.
That's a lame excuse. Cano couldn't hit his weight when Alonso was protecting him in the lineup. You could put Davis behind Alonso and drop Cano to 7th or 8th in the batting order.
McNeil
Conforto
Alonso
Davis
Frazier
Ramos
Rosario
Cano
Pitcher

Notice all the young, hungry guys are at the top of the lineup. They are producing.

Agree, but Cano should bat last when Thor and deGrom are pitching. They are better hitters.

That's a good lineup Cubuffsdoug. Gotta get Cano's corpse out of the middle of the lineup already. He's an abomination and having him hit there is a miscarriage of justice!

If you cut the 22 (per ESPN.com, not 24) blown saves in half, then you are 37 for 48, a 77% save conversation rate. That is elite.

So yeah, if the Mets had an elite bullpen instead of a sucky one, there would be a big difference in their W-L. We agree there.

When they traded for Diaz, they thought they were getting an elite closer.

Flip Rosario and Ramos. Yu lose any chance for Rosario to use his speed if Ramos is in front of him.

Post All Star batting averages and OBP
Cano: 221/250
Alonso: 133/321
McNeil: 254/315
Conforto: 309/382

Kind of strange that heart of the order hitting so poorly except Conforto. Alonso --????

Rosario-- 349/397

Very true. But team saves stats go well beyond the closer. A save can be blown anytime from the sixth inning on. In fact you can have multiple blown saves in the same game. That is why a 77% conversion rate, while mediocre for an individual closer, is elite for a bullpen as a whole.

But then, we were led to believe we had an elite bullpen. Right now, an average bullpen looks good.

Slumps by Alonso and McNeil are not unexpected. But winning our way through them is.

Very nice to see Conforto hitting well. He's been very streaky, but when he's good, he's really good, if he can ever even it out he's an absolute core guy.

Rosario I want to see more of, but also very encouraging. Fielding better as well.

Yeah, it is strange, but those guys carried the Mets for most of the season. Cano has been hot or cold all season. At least Rosario is a little more consistent.

Stranger that the team is winning with the core not hitting well.

1 more against White Sox and then a home series against the Pirates, who are still slumping and 1-9 in last 10 games. :Praying:

I was checking some league wide bullpen stats, and I think Washington might take the cake as far as worse pen in the league.

"Only" 20 blown saves, but a league worst 5.9 era. Met's a 5.2(3rd worst in the league) by comparison.
