That inning is still better then Diaz yesterdayK, K, HR, out. Can't Familia once have a 1-2-3 inning?

Not so fast my friend. Texas DFA'd him for a reason. One must assume that before they did, they tried to trade him but couldn't. Mets will do some due diligence here.Do the right thing and sign asdrubal Cabrera. Everyone on the farm sucks. Herrera, Guillermo, Tejada etc. Shame cano got hurt when he was finally hitting.
Not sure what to think about Stroman. For a ground ball pitcher, there were a lot of balls in the air. He seemed to lock in after he made that nice fielding play to throw the runner out at home. He also said post game he had problems locating his pitches.
I think it was his first time out with a new team and a new league and all that comes with that.
Guillorme was pulled out of yesterday's Syracuse game sometime after the Cano injury. My guess is that he's the one coming up. As he is already on the 40 man, that would be the cleanest approach over the short term. Does not preclude a different move later.Yeah, now we kinda do.
Of course, if we want to go the ex-Met route, we have other in-house options.
One ex-Met who is off the market is TJ Rivera, who just signed a minor league contract with Washington.
- Ruben Tejada, hitting .336 in Syracuse with a solid glove.
- Luis Guillorme, hitting .310 in Syracuse with a really good glove. Plus he has the advantage of already being on the 40 man.
- Dilson Herrera, who has 22 HRs.
With Guillorme most likely coming up, do you keep McNeil in right and play Ech at 2nd or move McNeil to 2nd and use Lagares in CF with Conforto going to right?Guillorme was pulled out of yesterday's Syracuse game sometime after the Cano injury. So the fish swim in for 4 this week. Hate the double dip on the first day back off the road. Hoping for the split today and then the next two for 3 out of 4 and a game over .500 before the big Nats series. Mets cannot afford any letdown. May the Marlins flounder. Help us Harry Parker. Ya Gotta Believe!

Most likely, deGrom goes 7 innings, 2 hits 0 runs and Diaz or Familia gives up 4 in the 9th for the loss 4-2
Locket gives up 4 first inning runs and a 5th in the 3rd, leaves after 4.2 innings with 5 runs but we pull off a 9-7 win with Wilson and Lugo shuttung them down in the 8/9th...
I am certain of one thing. Familia will not be pitching in the ninth with a two run lead. Diaz, maybe. Most likely, deGrom goes 7 innings, 2 hits 0 runs and Diaz or Familia gives up 4 in the 9th for the loss 4-2

Would not be surprised if we see both alignments in the doubleheader today. With Guillorme most likely coming up, do you keep McNeil in right and play Ech at 2nd or move McNeil to 2nd and use Lagares in CF with Conforto going to right?
Not true. We have overtaken multiple teams in the Wild Card race since the break. There is nothing to let down from. We have had a win streak. Every team has those in the course of the season. We are in the hunt for wild card but sadly have not overtaken any team during this run. I suspect the team is going to stay focused and try to sweep for 4 before the Nats.
That is prediction down to the innings. Why even play the game?
It'd be nice to have Vargas instead of a 26 year-old catcher who was hitting .195 in AA ball as a back-up.. . .

Back up catcher? This guy will never make it to triple-A let alone onto the 40 man roster. It'd be nice to have Vargas instead of a 26 year-old catcher who was hitting .195 in AA ball as a back-up.
Was dumping Vargas more about making room for Stroman than picking up a terrible catcher? It'd be nice to have Vargas instead of a 26 year-old catcher who was hitting .195 in AA ball as a back-up.

Exactly what does making room mean? You get Stroman, you keep Vargas, and you send down or release one of the multiple bums we have on the staff. Wait until one of our starters goes down. Then wonder why we don't have Vargas, but instead we have a AA back-up who played ball with one of the Wilpon grandsons in college. Was dumping Vargas more about making room for Stroman than picking up a terrible catcher?
Save $2 million. That's huge. To the Wilpons. Then they should have moved Vargas to the pen. If just one SP goes down we could have moved him back. Why kill depth when there was no reason to except for saving $2 million?
Y'all are missing the obvious reason for the Vargas trade. They were REALLY pissed at him for embarrassing the organization, and then refusing to apologize. Then they should have moved Vargas to the pen. If just one SP goes down we could have moved him back. Maybe. Some front office people complained about this anonymously through the media. Typical Met procedure. And so now they weaken the team. For something no one cares about anymore. It's not as if Vargas was some sort of long-term cancer with recurring problems. Ah, the Mets front office: they have an unending list of reasons to make dumb moves. You know, like hiring a GM who hasn't an ounce of qualifications for the job.Y'all are missing the obvious reason for the Vargas trade. You could have put Vargas in the pen. He would be starting one of the games today. I stead they send him and cash to the Phils, a team we are chasing. Anything to save money for the Coupons as now they don't have to pay the buyout of the option. Was dumping Vargas more about making room for Stroman than picking up a terrible catcher?
A fair point but if they were that pissed would not releasing him the next day sent a stronger message. Instead you send him to a team in the division you are competing with. Stupid decision on the part of the front office.Y'all are missing the obvious reason for the Vargas trade. It's official. Guillorme up, Cano to IL.Guillorme was pulled out of yesterday's Syracuse game sometime after the Cano injury. My guess is that he's the one coming up. As he is already on the 40 man, that would be the cleanest approach over the short term. Does not preclude a different move later.
That being the case, I would prefer moving McNeil to 2nd and playing Lagares. Neither Lagares or Guillorme strikes fear into pitchers but I think the D is a little better with Lagares in CF.It's official. Guillorme up, Cano to IL.
For game 1, you get your wish! That being the case, I would prefer moving McNeil to 2nd and playing Lagares. Neither Lagares or Guillorme strikes fear into pitchers but I think the D is a little better with Lagares in CF.
Agree, it strengthens 2 outfield positions with Lagares in and Conforto in right. That being the case, I would prefer moving McNeil to 2nd and playing Lagares. Neither Lagares or Guillorme strikes fear into pitchers but I think the D is a little better with Lagares in CF.
You forget who our manager is? Or who BVW may tell him to pitch?I am certain of one thing. Familia will not be pitching in the ninth with a two run lead. Diaz, maybe.
Vargas was not a baseball move. Was dumping Vargas more about making room for Stroman than picking up a terrible catcher?
Another option would be to platoon Guillorme and Lagares. One bats left, the other right. McNeal goes back and forth between OF and 2B.That being the case, I would prefer moving McNeil to 2nd and playing Lagares. I would be happy if either can hit above the Mendoza line giving that one the majority of playing time. I do think the defense is slightly better overall with Lagares in CF as he can give some help to Davis who is not a great fielder. That being said I think the lefty righty platoon is what we will probably see.Another option would be to platoon Guillorme and Lagares. One bats left, the other right. Yeah, 15-6 after All Star break is deflating.Guillorme, Lagares, Altherr, etc. - getting that sinking feeling again as much as Cano has drained the life out of me.
So are the marlinsLagares is bad karma. Just sayin. Prove me wrong.
