He is my youngest son's favorite Met. He drew a picture of him in middle school. He still asks me what happened to him.
Ruben was perfectly fine until that prick Utley broke his leg.

Did not know:
On March 23, 2019, Tejada signed a minor league contract to return to the Mets and was assigned to Triple-A Syracuse.[25] He hit for the cycle on June 19, 2019 against the Charlotte Knights.
Then you probably also didn't know that Tejada is hitting .343 with a .919 OPS in Syracuse. He has 6 HRs in about 240 ABs. He actually hit cleanup on Sunday!

Hope Brodie calls up Carlos Gomez and Danny Espinosa. How much can one stand seeing Juan Lagares and Luis Guillome pretend to be MLB players?

Great wins however tonight but Lagares and Guillome cannot answer the call for good teams such as the Nats / Braves etc

Gomez is not an option. When he was DFA'd at the end of June, he declined assignment to Syracuse and elected free agency. To my knowledge he remains unsigned. I guess they could look into re-signing him, but I have no idea if he's even been working out. He had a few good moments with the Mets, but his .198/.278/.337 really isn't much of an upgrade.

It's a shame Rajai Davis is injured, otherwise I think he'd get another chance.

I don't see Espinosa as an upgrade. He hasn't played in the bigs since 2017 when he slashed a mere .173/.245/.278. He's done OK at Syracuse, but Ruben Tejada and Dilson Herrera have outperformed him. So, for that matter, has Guillorme.

Break-up the Mets:
NL MVP-McNeil
NL Cy Young-deGrom
NL Rookie of the Year-Alonso
NL Comeback Player-Conforto
NL Manager of the Year- Callaway
Executive of the Year-BVW

Ok two down and two to go against the fish. 3 out of 4 at this point is a must.
I don't want to look ahead with 2 more to come against the oversized fish, but this coming weekend is gonna be huge. And the stands will surely be rocking for those three games. Is Washington's pitching rotation lined up yet? Wonder if we see Scherzer and/or Strasburg? I gotta figure at least one of the two.

Per ESPN.com it's Strasburg, Corbin, and undecided. Scherzer is on IL.

We're basically winning in spite of BVW's moves besides Davis and Mickey's horrid managing but I'll take it. Winning is winning!!

Anyways going forward with Cano gone I'd like to see JD in left, Conforto in CF, and McNeil in RF. I'd keep Frazier at 3B and have Guillorme at 2B to help out with the infield defense. He's never really been given a shot so that bat may play up a little more than we've seen so far. Call up Dilson and get rid of Altherr.

JD Davis is by far his best move...Wilson seems to be a solid BP pickup as well. Glad we went with Lowrey instead of a bum like LeMathieu who was clearly a product of Colorado. hehe

Also agree with who you want to play and agree with announcers last night that said they would prefer Rosaio leading off and McNeil 2nd.

My Lineup until Smith is back but that causes another problem - move McNeil back to 2b(good) but who plays RF? Davis becuase of his arm?
Rosario
McNeil
Conforto
Alonso
Davis
Ramos or Frazier
Frazier or Ramos
Hech/Guilliome

i agree with calling up Herrara and DFAing AA. I still prefer an alignment with Lagares in CF to help Davis and McNeil at 2b. Its really pick your poison. I think when Stroman pitches they should revert to the lineup you propose above.

Washington and Atlanta picked up Cabrera and Duda. We stood pat. Either one could have helped off the bench as a bat. I hate the 4 man bench and with our starters now going 7 per start, they should really drop a pitcher and get a position player onto the roster.

Sadly I don't think we'll see Smith, Nimmo, or Lowrie at all. Maybe just maybe the last 2 weeks of the season. I don't know if Lowrie would even be eligible for a postseason roster if we were to luckily make it in.

As much as I disliked the Lowrie signing, we could really use his versatility now. They don't even mention him in the injury reports. What the heck is going on with him?

It's been radio silent on him and Nimmo since about the All Star break. Word was they were rehabbing and maybe about to get into some games but then nothing.

Nimmo back in CF would be huge as well.

Team is playing great and I know Nimmo was having a tough year but if we had Nimmo and Lowery right now, this team would have a completely different look. As much as we bash Lowery, he is a solid, professional player that winning teams always seem to have and Nimmo plays hard every single play.

Answer to your last sentence is yes. If you're on the IL as of August 31, you're eligible for postseason roster selection

Lowrie had begun a rehab assignment last month, but then picked up a NEW injury, a right calf strain, which was thought to be minor at the time but I guess it ain't.

Nimmo has the neck injury, and I guess I'm less optimistic about his return.

Legares gives us near nothing at the plate, but the team looks significantly better defensively with him in Center.

I'd go Davis Legares Conforto in the OF, with McNeil at 2nd.

There is enough hitting in that lineup to make up for Legares.

I am ok with that too...Maybe bat Wheeler/deGrom/Thor/Matz 8th in the lineup when they are pitching...

As an extension on my post above, when Smith is healthy, I'd be very hesitant about putting him in the OF. Especially if Davis and Conforto are hitting.

He may just have to be a bench depth guy, if he can get back to his pinch hitting from earlier in the year that would be big. Then maybe spell Alonso if he needs a day off. Not sure if we have any more games in the AL where he(or Alonso) can DH.

So Calloway gets blame for losses but no credit for wins?
