Alonso's problems are mental. Every team is pitching him the same way with fastballs up in the zone. He's late with his swing. It looks at times as if Alonso doesn't see the pitches as there are coming in. Has he hit the rookie wall?

HR Derby curse. Same thing happened to Judge for a month of so after that event.

Dodged another Diaz disaster somehow
He settled in after that hit's bats man.

We'd all love to see him just pitch clean innings, but I give him credit for not falling apart after a bad first batter.

He's surviving lately.

He has a chance to settle in against a bad team with a 4 run lead. Won’t get that chance with Nats this weekend. Nevertheless I like the fact that he kept the pitches low.

Back to .500! Now it really starts to get interesting!!

I would left deGrom for one more inning since we have a double header today. He was only at 94 pitches. Instead we almost used Wilson, Diaz, and Lugo.

I'm admittedly searching for glimmers of hope.

It is nice to get 7 innings out of DeGrom and still get him out of the game with under 100 pitches. You do want him as fresh as possible heading down the stretch.

Torn hammy for Cano.

That is pretty much exactly how a bad season goes. Struggle, struggle, struggle, start to get hot, then get hurt. Seen it a hundred times.

So much for Francesca’s he never gets hurt quips at start of year. Mets’d

Lagares, Guillorme, Hech, Altherr I mean good grief. Win would be a minor miracle.
I was going to say the same thing. You beat me to it. Only the Mets are content with splitting a double-hitter. Any team in the hunt for the playoffs usually go for the kill because every game counts.

Can Thor or deGrom pinch hit for one of the above? They are better hitters.

Again. 2-0 Botom 1st. First and Second no out and don’t score another run. Killed them the other night in Pittsburgh with almost same situation in 1st and second innings . Hopefully a comeback is in order.

The players who are struggling the most (bench players like Lagares, Altherr, etc.) are some of the most passive hitters I've seen in a long time. Opposing teams know you are not hitting, so they throw first-pitch strikes, and they still don't swing. Once they get two strikes on them, the other team can roll the ball up to the plate, and they will swing wildly.

Can’t believe they missed out on picking Asdrubal back up again. Guillorme and Lagares are not going to cut it.

I'm doubling down with a Ruben Tejada.
He is my youngest son's favorite Met. He drew a picture of him in middle school. He still asks me what happened to him.
Ruben was perfectly fine until that prick Utley broke his leg.

Did not know:
On March 23, 2019, Tejada signed a minor league contract to return to the Mets and was assigned to Triple-A Syracuse.[25] He hit for the cycle on June 19, 2019 against the Charlotte Knights.

And Vargas should have been in there and not another minor leaguer in Lockett. This is why Vargas should have been retained.
