The crappy Super Bowl is over and football season has ended. However, the timing is great. Pitchers and Catchers report tomorrow with their first workout Tuesday. Apparently a good numbers of players are already there.

A good off-season. Not signing Soto hurt a bit but the reality was the Yankees needed a lot more then just another future DH in the roster.

Many good signings but still need a 3rd baseman. DJ was mentioned by Cashman and Boone as in the mix for 3rd. Please no!!

Looking forward to the news cycle and the games starting on February 21st.

Let's Go Yankees!

If one of our younger kids can actually hit and play decent 3B, that would be the ultimate solution. It's a little ridiculous that many of our infield prospects don't pan out or max their potential.

It's a bad pattern that they come up playing well but after a little time they regress, even players from trades like DJ. They all start fast and then fade. The coaching up in the Bronx hasn't been successful in turning everyone into a home run hitter. Which is a bad strategy!

DJ needs to be waived. Addition by subtraction.

They got Cashman'ed with his awful analytics. He has singlehandedly f'ed up the entire farm system.

So there will be a total of 67 players at Spring Training, the 65 on the first list by the MLB. And two others just recently. Ronaldo Hernández and lefty Jayvien Sandridge.
It's rare that a non roster player makes the Major League team out of spring training but when it does happen it's usually a great story.
Pitchers and Catchers arrived today and first workout tomorrow without snow!!

3rd base and 2nd base,
Would much prefer to not platoon there.
Those are vital run saving defensive positions.
I don’t care how much you hit, you can’t extend innings and give away runs… you’ll lose.
Best scenario is DJ is healthy at 36 and manages to have one more bounce back year at 3rd.
Jazz at 2nd, he’s so gifted defensively, all in he’s a positive with the glove, he wil be offensively hot and cold but he can carry you

Agree Jazz should be at 2nd base full time. But to be honest I think DJ is done physically. I hope I'm wrong.

You would think so, but I can remember good hitters squeezing out one more solid year after a couple injury plagued seasons.
DJ has led the league in hitting….if he’s truly healthy he can do it.
I hope you're right. But I think he's done...unfortunately.

Best scenario is to dump DJ and get cheap Hal to sign Bregman.

Addition by subtraction.
Michael: Yes, Dwight Schrute has left this company. More personnel turnover.
Andy: The cost of doing business.
Michael: Yes, well. It is a big loss. Dwight was the top salesman…
Andy: Was the top salesman…
Michael: I said ‘was’.
Andy: [chuckles] Addition by subtraction.
Michael: What does that even mean? That is impossible.
Andy: Mmmm. Yeah you’re right.
Michael: But, there is some good news. Oscar is back. Addition by addition. So we are going to have a big party today to welcome him back and hopefully that will lift everybody’s spirits.

With Paul Goldschmidt's arrival, the Yankees can consider putting 1B Ben RIce back to his minor league position of catcher to back up Austin Wells instead of the strictly defnsive catcher Alex Jackson or J.C. Escarra.

Cody Bellinger can also play first so spelling Goldschmidt should not be a problem. Trent Grisham can play the outfield on those days.

So outside of filling 3B, the Yankees appear to be very flexible with their players and roster.

With the departure of Soto and three other starters, the offense has at least 70 less home runs and 170 RBI's .Judge will get more walks with Soto no longer batting second.

There's every reason to expect significantly increased production from our catcher, first baseman, second baseman, left fielder, and probably shortstop. And I'm excited to see what our newly improved starting rotation and bullpen looks like.
Perhaps we can flip the script in the World Series on the Dodgers.

The chance that the Yankees have this season depends on Kentucky's winning the NCAA title while not playing Baylor in the Tournament as every time those two conditions are met, there's a parade down Broadway.

That's not true. Funny but not true.

The Yankees should not have to hit as much as they have significantly improved both their rotation and bullpen with the addition of Fried and Williams.

DJ still has the defensive skills, he just can't hit anymore. He hits ground balls A LOT. They will need to upgrade at the trade deadline I think. They should survive until then.

He's a walking double play.
