OT: College Football Playoffs Quarterfinal Games 12/31-1/1 Tues-Weds

Personally, I don't think it was ludicrous. Realignment is what made it bad. If it was Oregon, Texas, UGA, PSU no one would say it's ludicrous or bad. Concentrating the top schools from the PAC and B12 into the B10 and SEC is what skewed everything. Looks like there should be changes though. Seeding changes I can understand but wonder if there's a way to make it so conference champs in the first round can get a home game so there is still some reward for it. Also if it's just by CFP ranking does that allow ND to get a bye without having played a conf champ game.

I think that PSU tradition wins this game for them. It's big Penn State versus little Boise, and if there's anything that PSU has been traditionally good at, it's abusing little Boises.

Was that defensive celebration by Pedd St a simulated spanking, or something even more suggestive?!?! Seems very on brand particularly with the “be quiet” motion at the end. They can all rot in hell.

They have to work out the kinks with this playoff system. The first four games were crap, Boise and Arizona State inexplicably drew byes. The result is Penn State, arguably the 3rd best team in the B1G has potentially the easiest road to the championship and Oregon/OSU (a potential championship game) meet in the quarterfinals.

Realignment screwed it up. It was a good format until the B10/SEC concentrated the best teams. If it was Oregon, UGA, Texas, PSU with the byes because the PAC and B12 were in tact, no one would say anything. They are looking at tweaking things for next year.

I think they will change the seeding process for next year. They will keep the top 5 conf champs getting in. But the seeding will be just 1-12 regardless of conf champions. It’s clear that there is going to be a real distinction between the top 5 or 6 and the rest of the field.

SEC and BIG champs get buys. The other conference champs get invites but not automatic byes. After the top 2 just rank the rest of the teams and let them play. If the SEC or BIG have multiple teams getting byes so be it.

I don't like or hate PSU or Boise but I got weary of all the commotion on socials about how Jeanty got robbed of Heisman.
Obviously he had great numbers but so did Ron Dayne. I see the Boise OL making great holes but PSU stuffs them quick.

As of early second Jeanty has 20yds on 8 carries for 2.5 avg

Not sure why PSU bothered with a trick play there. They’ve been running all over Boise, just keep it up. Kotelnicki getting too cute but I’ll take it since it didn’t work lol.

The problem with Boise and ASU getting byes is that the CFP committee released a ranking that said they didn't deserve a top 4 seed.

The loser of Minnesota-Detroit on Sunday night will go from NFC #1 seed and a bye to the 5th seed and playing @ TB.

But nobody complains because the rules are clear.
Division winners are all treated equal and they get the top seeds.

NFL doesn't say "TB is ranked 10th but they get the 4th seed".
They just say "Divison matters above all else so they get 4th."

CFP should just put out a bracket and no rankings.
Ideally no bracket until the end of the year either.

If they go to 14, it could work out that way where the top 2 conf champs get a bye and more times than not it’ll be the B10 and SEC.

Nice play call Dirk Koetter, good job

Now the defense has to come through.

If I’m PSU I’d just run it down their throat like Michigan lol and see if they can stop it.

Jeanty is a great RB and from what I’ve gathered an even better person. However he needs to carry the ball more securely. PSU has a bigger, faster defense than he is used to playing. A precursor to the NFL. Some people wonder why the RU RBs hold the ball so high and formally. It prevents fumbles.
