OT: Mike Tyson returning to the ring

Boring fight. Earlier fixed fight. I’m back to ignoring boxing.

the fact it was a boring fight I can give a pass because Tyson is old. After 2 rounds he was exhausted. Most of us expected too much I guess. What I don’t understand is how their feed was so horrible in this day and age. I’d also add that woman who lost was totally robbed. She clearly won despite getting cut by a head butt and dealing with that half the fight

My feed was way behind others here, about an hour I guess

The woman's fight was over, guys here talking about the decision, meanwhile it hadn't even started on my tv

I got off the board so I could watch the Tyson fight without knowing what would happen

That was terrible
The fact that the fight might be boring was a very possible thing, not a shock

Also, eight rounds ,two minutes each..... 16 minutes of
"fighting".... not much
If you throw in the one minute break between rounds, the whole event was 23 minutes long

Did ringsiders think they got their moneys worth?

I'm not sure what anyone expected from a 58 yo Tyson, other than hoping he miraculously found his pre-Douglas form because we all wanted to see him KO Paul. Father time is undefeated. Could you imagine if the rounds were a minute longer and it went 10 or 12 rounds? There's a reason the original July date was moved to Nov. He never really had his legs and was gassed after rd 1. He also looked to possibly be dealing with an injury.

The Netflix stream was terrible. Netflix needs to fix/optimize its CDN before the NFL games on Christmas Day. My feed was blurry and low quality for much of the night. I didn't have much buffering, but checked Netflix on my phone and that stream was a full round ahead of my Roku on TV.

Be thankful we didn't pay $79.99 for PPV like a UFC fight.

How the hell did Tyson get winded? He barely moved around and threw a total of 98 punches, less than 10 punches per 2 minutes round. I'm a bit younger than him, 58 is not near dead.
But Mike might not be in the best of athletic shape seeing the fight was postponed in my because of his having an ulcer problen needed to take care of and the back surgery he had in 2012 might not be a problem but also might be a reason he really wasn't in fighting shape even though he looked it .
His reflexes are not close to his prime years and that's something we tend to overlook when thinking about a 58 year old Iron Mike in the ring .
Also it's been reported Tyson had an alcohol problem for years that he overcame , that would make getting in the type of shape to put on a good performance at his age a little harder to do than someone who didn't have the type of lifestyle that ruined one's body more than helped it.
We tended to see a 58 year Tyson as just an older version of Iron Mike in his early 20s..
That was our mistake and that mistake was proven by the way he fought Paul

The Serrano and Taylor fight was great. Both of them are warriors. Can't believe they didn't stop the fight from Serrano's cut.

Tyson/Paul was a disappointment. I know Mike is 58 but he looked really good in the training clips, and yesterday just looked like an old man who could barely move. Glad Jake was able to get him a nice $20M+ purse for the bout.

Same way he lost to Buster Douglas - he didn't really care.
Its a fight for the money - the rematch will bring more - with some minor glory on top.
I cant believe how many people actually watched this mess

Battle of the hams!

1. Woman’s fight was amazing.
2. Think the head butt thing was overblown. Second contact was both fighters moving into each other.
3. Mike connected early and Paul held him for 1.5 rounds. Then Mike was done.
4. Paul could have killed him but showed some class for once and paid respect to Mike which was nice.
5. Mike looked old sometimes bobbing and weaving 4 feet from Paul for no reason. Would occasionally bounce and constantly bit his glove. Constantly

No wonder Netflix locked-up.

"The platform announced that 60 million users watched the final fight live, while 50 million watched the first co-main fight between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor — which will likely make it the most-viewed professional women’s sporting event in United States history, Netflix wrote on social media."

People want real boxing and not glossy bar fights on the ground

You know.. Different devices have different versions of the Netflix app.

The best, most up-to-date apps would be on streaming specific devices like Chromecast, FireStick as well as IPhone and Android phones. TV's do have streaming apps.. but many do not stay current in app updates and many TVs offer streaming apps.. but don't really have teh right processing power for the screen size.

I mention this because, in the past, I have had these issues.. blurry, stuttering, even too dark video. But when I cast from my phone it was much better. I think, specifically, Roku interface on TV using Hulu or something was not as good as streaming Hulu from the phone. Not entirely sure it was Hulu.. maybe AppleTV? Maybe it was For All Mankind was just way too dark.

But this applies to this topic because I switched from Netflix running on a big, maybe 3-year old Samsung TV to using the ChromeCast device and the video was better.. but there was still a lot of buffering.. so it was a Netflix issue... for sure.

Good point. My phone was still not clear, even if it was a round ahead. TV apps (for LG TVs, Samsung, etc.) are typically the least updated, but I'd expect Roku and Google/Android TV apps to be more updated than those, but not as much as phone apps.
