OT: NCAA College Football Games Thread 9/9-9/10 Fri-Sat

BYU beat Baylor 26-20 in 2OT…three top 10 teams go down to teams outside the P5.

UK beat UF in consecutive seasons for the first time in 45 years and without their starting RB. I don’t know if Stoops would leave Kentucky but Nebraska should go after him or Leipold if he can get to 6-6 at Kansas. Even Chris Klieman at KSU possibly.

CGD is going to Boone for the App State game next Saturday against Troy. Good for them..first time ever

Lots of high scoring. In FBS games 22 teams ( 6 from the B1G) scored over 50 points; 2 scored 70+, 5 scored 60+, 15 scored 50+. Another 19 scored 40+

Then there's Iowa.

So um....who is exactly going to be the top ranked G5 conference champion?
Obviously it's still early but hasn't every G5 team receiving votes lost a game already?

Good thing the 12 team CFP isnt happening this year.

I said this yesterday. Iowa is allergic to the endzone

I’d guess there will be a one or two loss G5 that would make the top 25 but probably wouldn’t be in the top 12.

In a 12 team playoff it would have happened a few times where a G5 finished outside the top 12 and gotten in.

In another crazy game E. Kentucky beats Bowling Green in 7 OTs. Check out the trick play EKU tried around the 3:05 mark.

I don't know if a big OL is the guy I'd lateral to in that spot lol. Even that close, might be too far out. From a yard out or 2 maybe, 3-4 yards might be a bridge too far for guys that size hah. Refrigerator Perry plays from short distance or maybe some sort of reverse throw where they leak out for a catch I think are higher probability if you want to use the big guys.

I didn't say that I liked the play. :) :) :)
Agree with you. Too much ground to cover.

So- with this crazy weekend

Does Bama stay number 1? I don't think they should
With the way everyone loves SEC, with Bama dropping- do they move Clemson ahead of OSU/Mich?
How far does A&M drop? my guess is around 15
Any f-ing way they rank ND at 0-2 - I bet they do
Wisc has to be out of top 25
And Pitt most likely stays ranked but maybe at 24 or 25

Thoughts?

I think Alabama should drop to at least 2 and probably 3.

Clemson is getting the benefit of its past but I'm still not sold on them this year as championship contended. I think top 15 team-ish team but we'll see.

A&M will probably drop to the mid teens at least IMO and should be farther because that wasn't just a loss to App State that was a dominating physical performance by App State. They got manhandled.
ND should be out of the rankings completely.

Wisconsin probably as well and Minnesota will probably get in them.

I think Pitt is about right somewhere in the 20s, although the WVU win doesn't look as good after their Kansas loss. I think WVU was up 14-0 in that game too and Kansas came back. Neal Brown's seat getting warm?

I'll bet Georgia gets the #1 spot. And although it's a travesty, ND somewhere between 15 and 20, and still a possible playoff spot.

Correct

Pitt and Tennessee essentially changed places in the Coaches Poll Top 25.

Tennessee #16

Pitt #25

AP Top 25 Poll:

Tennessee #15

Pitt #23

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Crazy that Bama stayed on top- the Tenn/Pit swap seems right. ND IS knocked out.

Neb fires coach
Alabama dropped to 2 and ND is out. Texas is in. PSU is in too. A&M is still in but they should’ve been dropped like ND too.

How does anyone vote for an 0-2 ND to give them 23 pts. Those voters should be taken off permanently and replaced.

Ben Portnoy(Columbia,South Carolina) 14th, Darren Haynes(Wash DC) 21st, Trevor Haas(Boston, Mass) 22nd, Don Williams(Lubbock, Tx) 24th

Bama usually starts out #1 and the drops, and then bounces back up if not to #1 again
Early polls are just vagaries

No G5 teams in the Top 25? It’s early obviously but interesting to watch with the new playoff rules in effect soon (Top G5 conference champion guaranteed a CFP spot).

CFP committee may need to start releasing a Top 30 if they want to capture the top G5 champion.

When's the last time a G5 didn't make the top 25 at the end of the year? Some writers were disappointed Marshall or App State didn't get in. BYU is up in there as an indy. Marshall/App State/Cincy are just on the outside of the top 25.

Good point and the UF/A&M/Auburn games came to my mind during that Texas game. Alabama has been physically matched or bettered in some of these games over the last year or so.

It should be very difficult for a G5 to be in top 25 with a loss this early in the season. Marshall, they should absolutely be right in that 25 range

Fisher was certainly worth that 10 year 75M contract, IIRC renewed after a few years to a 10yr 90M contract.

Twitter thread with the qbs Fisher has recruited at FSU/A&M and what's happened with them.
