Trying to predict the future is a useless exercise. For all we know, Bauer may decide to opt-out after 2021 (if that's what's in his contract) which makes signing Thor and/or Stroman possible. Or Cohen may decide to go significantly beyond the Luxury Tax threshold and pay all three, including Lindor and Conforto. It's not the fans money, so what do we care.

Fingers crossed the Mets sign Bauer and get this done. Hearing he has a noon deadline to decide for the Mets. It would be a tremendous signing and the Mets would have the best rotation in baseball.

Here is the issue kbee- during that time, you non stop posted it for weeks. And I am assuming you are far from a dumb man, you know that in every sport and every season, there could be a team or two that go through an easy stretch and the next year if could be a difficult one. In baseball, more than any other sport, a bad team can beat a good team on any given day. But again, it was because you took over our thread with non stop posting to the point of being banned.
So, we only ask this- bring something of value to a thread that is created by a fan or fans of a team. Even if it isn't all roses, bring it up, maybe even bust our balls- but your way of just being an annoyance is, in fact, annoying...I think we have one of our fans that does the same in the Yankee thread, and he is treated the same way.

Haven't seen him in months, so don't put this on him. Clearly, unprovoked Yankee fans have come in here.

Personally, I'm hoping it doesn't get done. I think we can pickup somebody for a 1/2 season rental if we're in it come July. Put that money toward players like Conforto , Lindor and whoever else is up soon. If we decide to get him, fine, but I won't be broken hearted if we pass.

If Sherman's report is true, that is one strong-ass offer (to borrow a basketball recruiting term). $100 to $110 million over three years. $40M in years 1 and 2, with opt outs after each.

I hope he drags his feet and the Mets pull the offer.

Point is it will in all likelihood it will be a nasty negotiation. It’s not a sure thing so if you can get Bauer - you get him- and you let the issues for next year take its toll next year and not this year given the uncertainty.

Sandy/Cohen got played on this specific case...that was a bad look. All the other FA decisions made sense but Met's went all in these past couple of days and got played.

That said- I am ok with not spending that cash on this DB at all.

This- Met's actually tried to spend more than he is worth...

That being said- Not signing Springer, I am ok with but he was my number 1 guy.
Martin vs Realmuto- Now seeing that Realmuto got just over 20 per- I would have liked to go after him harder since we didn't go all out with guys like Springer
Bauer- I never wanted him for the money but would have liked him at a good rate. Think we dodged a bullet and hope Noah comes back strong as he and Carasco may prove to be better than Bauer over the next 3-5 years.
Lindor- via trade- Home the F-ing Run move of the off season...now sign him long term...

Get a defensive OF replacement and I am ready to start the season!

I look at it this way, the usual suspects will have to pay way more than in the past with the Mets now lurking in the shadows of every major free agent. The Mets just took the Dodgers out of the next player coming down the pike.
