OT: NJ microbrew industry in jeopardy?

Rick Reed at Cricket Hill in Fairfield has been brewing in NJ since 2001. His tour can be a comedy act.

” Coors Light is the most expensive water in New Jersey”

” I don’t care how much Coors you drink, you’re not gonna get laid by twins”

Rick is a cool dude. He enjoys beer and people who enjoy beer. I always checked when I hear him refer to "that filtered water from Colorado" they call Coors.

In this example they were protecting liquor stores.
Aren't the ShopRites that sell alcohol have full liquor licenses? I know the Wegmans near Quakerbridge Mall is s full blown complete Liquor store. And so close to one of the biggest Joe Canals. Lots of booze sold around there.

This was an unlicensed store.

Well agree with that. That is way beyond any scope of selling liquor almost anywhere without a license.
You're missing the point. I got the approval at the specialty grocers but not at the ShopRite. The only difference was the size of the stores, they're both grocers. My point is that abc always comes up with arbitrary regs that aren't written in the statute.

I am missing the point. Didn’t know NJ allowed alcohol of any kind to be sold on a continuous bases in places without a license in NJ. I've heard of daily permits at events such as town flea markets/arts festivals. Never new they allowed that. Nice for you. Where is your winery?

Unionville is east amwell. Each winery can lease space and open a "salesroom" in fifteen unlicensed premises. When you find a byob that sells one single wineries wines, it's this arrangement in action.

Would love to see your place sometime.

I wonder as well. A certain NJ, brewery used to diligently log people's names as they took the tour while another one said, "open the door and look at the equipment. You just finished the self tour". Bonus points if anyone can identify the breweries I am referring to.
Flounder had a list

Just another example of the stupid NJ gov doing stupid things. Microbreweries should be able to sell their product as they see fit.
You realize that their is another side to this. Look at who is afraid of losing business that may be quietly pushing for this. The politicians are only pawns to the money of special interests. While the microbreweries are a special interest so are those opposing them operating like bars. That may be your local favorite tavern that is merely keeping a low profile. Whoever has more financial heft wins.

How is this any different than the rules up until like 2017? I remember only being able to have 1 beer and having to take a tour at all the NJ breweries up until then and then things changed to how the were the past 5 or so years.

Still stupid, the whole liquor license pricing in NJ is some statist BS.

They are opening cannabis dispensaries everywhere but NJ thinks breweries need to be limited and controlled?

WTH.. FREEDOM!
