Umpires are just a flat out embarrassment to the game !!!!

Marlins pitcher ejected after Braves manager asks for umpires to talk about ejecting him and the the lame A$$ umps do

It's a slugfest between who looks more lost at the plate right now- Conforto or McNeil. It is really puzzling considering how well they have hit in the past. Maybe a day or two of rest will do Conforto some good.
At least Conforto did rip one good looking base hit last night, but overall he's making a lot of soft contact. McNeil hasn't done jack except to be a leadoff batter who never gets on base. Thankfully thats over with.

Never mind. Rained out. Split dh on Sunday. Nothing to do but scoreboard watch now.
Plays havoc with an already decimated rotation:

Saturday - Walker
Sunday - Stroman, and Megill?
Monday - Oswalt?
Tuesday - deGrom
Wednesday - ???
Thursday - Walker
Friday - Stroman
Saturday - Megill or Oswalt?
Sunday - deGrom

Need deGrom to go at least eight on Tuesday.

To elaborate on my prior post: A month or so ago, Mets envisioned that by July they'd have a superior rotation with plenty of quality depth:

1) deGrom
2) Syndergaard
3) Carrasco
4) Stroman
5) Walker
6) Peterson
7) Lucchesi
8) Yamamoto
9) Gsellman

The two starters who were supposed to be back by now are not, and ALL the projected replacements are gone.

TBH I wouldn't mind another rainout tomorrow. Would really help with next week's starting pitching squeeze.

Per CBS Sports, Mets have had discussions with Twins about Josh Donaldson.
Salary dump from Twins perspective. He is owed $21M for each of the next two years. Add in his salary for the rest of this year, plus an $8M buyout for 2024, and we're talking a cool 60 mill. Guaranteed.

Sounds like Cano redux, without the steroids (we assume). Hard pass. That money can be put to better use.

Kyle Schwarber left tonight's Dodgers-Nats game with what looks like a pretty bad hamstring injury. Braves held on to win 1-0 as the fish squandered all kinds of scoring opportunities late, including bases loaded one out in the 9th.

No question mark. Megill is definitely going Sunday. Could see Szapucki brought back to start Wednesday if need be.

No, Mets can't bring back Szapucki unless it's to replace someone who was put on IL. When a player is sent down, he can't be brought back for 10 days. The reason is obvious. Absent that rule, a starting pitcher with options could be sent down after each start, and brought back when it's his turn to pitch.

That said, I guess it's possible that somebody like Reid-Foley could come up with an injury on Wednesday.

Crazy season- lose our entire offense early in season and our pitching holds it all together. We get our offense back and we have no pitching

1 bad inning for the whole YEAR as compared to our hitters who have had one good inning for the month of June
FIFY lol

The HR he gave up actually shows why he is so damn good. I heard him talking about it and he felt it was a perfect pitch. He was pissed off that anyone even got a bat on the ball, much less put it out of the park.

I think I also heard that up to that first inning, he had retired 37 straight 1st inning batters.

I think we still have 3 very solid starters and I like what I've seen from Megill who has looked very solid but just ran into a 5th inning wall in each of his first 2 starts. The only issue is that 5th spot. Oswald has pitched well in long relief this time around. So far. Just have to see if he can carry that over to some spot starts. But I hesitate to say that we have our offense back until the ones who have recently returned actually do something to help produce more runs. Hopefully Nimmo can help by being a table setter.

Now we find out who can perform in big games. And these are big games because in the Subway Series they always are due to the energy in the stands. Plus we're now in a tight divisional race. And that 3rd strike call on McCann was low.

Problem this year is the way the home plate umps are calling them you have to swing at it.

HELL NO TO DONALDSON!!!

Nimmo getting on base just changes Lindors at bats. Much like Dykstra and Backman we will go as far as the tablesetters will take us
