3-0 Nationals top of the 1st. Also the suddenly hapless Cubbies trying their best to blow a 5-0 lead.
Phillies lost but the Nats are all over SD 9-0 in the 3rd inning. No help there as the Nats are gonna go in there and take 2 of 3. Maybe SF will be more help. Although they just lost a home series to St Louis.

I would trade Davis. I prefer D and speed on JD's bat.
Except that D and speed has gotten us about 3 runs per game.
But yes, it is the one position I would be ok with the backup but let’s be honest, .240 15 HR 20 SB is not good for 3B.
as for trading JD, you can’t do it as he has been injured cal year. You would get nothing back

If the rest of the lineup hits, you can get away with those numbers. I think in his last full season Villar did hit 24HRs which is similar to JD. I agree that JD is probably untradeable until he gets some AB's but the thought of him kicking the ball around the infield is giving me nightmares. I hope they go with one less pitcher and keep both Villar and JD.

Already going with one less pitcher. For most of the year, the Mets carried 14 pitchers and 4 bench players. It's currently 13 and 5.

Yes, but it would be 12 pitchers for 6 weeks until September call ups. Not ideal but doable. I just hate breaking up the chemistry this group seems to have built. Are the Mets required to call JD back or can he go to the minors? Its not as if he is David Wright.

No matter how you look at it- JD needs to be healthy and playing for the Mets. Even if sharing time with Villar. I do think he would be the guy I would trade but he needs to be with the MLB team in order for us to get more than a bag of balls.
Also- it actually seems like Dom has gotten a bit better in the OF- Does that make JD the perfect DH for us next year?

The question of whether he can go to the minors depends on two factors:

1) Whether he has options left. All players have three option years when they can be sent to the minors and recalled. Has Davis gone up/down in three different years in his career? Don't know, but doubt it.

2) Whether he has five years MLB service time. Such a player cannot be sent to the minors without his consent. He can demand his release.

One other note. There are only two September call ups this year. The roster limit goes from 26 to 28 on September 1.

In light of the above I take the Beard off the roster when JD comes back. Its a crappy deal but right now I would rather have Peraza and Villar.

What I fear is the fact it's not one team dogging the Mets in the division, because you could make the case for any of 3 teams running off with the division. I don't see Miami as a threat this year. The Mets just playing .500 for long stretches isn't going to cut it, I don't think. That 4 game lead could evaporate in one week, lol.

Previewing the 7 games against the Pirates. Yes, on paper, they suck.
32-54 overall
6-8 against NL East, but 3 of those wins against Miami, and 3 against Atlanta.
6-15 against left hand pitchers
26-39 against right hand pitchers; Walker, Stroman and Megill are all righties.
19-25 at home; 13-29 away.

Win 3 of 4 at home, and after break, win 2 of 3 would be nice.

I'm not concerned about how our pitchers will do against them. I never expect shutouts but we'll get quality starting pitching. The issue is the same for me. Scoring runs even if the opponent only scores 2 or 3.

Me neither. Think that some fans will expect Mets to go 7-0 and anything less is a failure.

The Mets need to fatten up on the Bucs. They finish out July with three vs. the Jays, 7 vs. the resurgent Reds and 4 with the Braves.

Would anybody want to take Confort-O-no off our hands?

At least I can see the games now. Just by luck or by chance I found out just yesterday that as an Amazon Prime customer I can stream games via MBL TV. The only thing blacked out are commercials and pre or postgame. Cost me around $35 for the remainder of the season.

Perhaps no one currently on the roster. Dreams of a trade deadline move for a right-handed bat who can play the OF. A few guys who would be instant upgrades.

Whit Merrifield-KC
Adolis Garcia_Texas
Mitch Haniger-Sea
Probably take more than a struggling Conforto.

So can you actually watch Mets/Yankee games in NYC area or is it still blacked out because of archaic rules?

I live in the Atlanta area. I added a sports package to my Directv at the beginning of the season that came with SNY only to find out all the games were blacked out. I could only watch the postgame show. So until yesterday the only games I could see were nationally televised ones or when we played the Braves.

Stock up, Stock down. Despite a reasonably solid effort yesterday, Robert Stock was optioned to Syracuse. Nick Tropeano, who came up as 27th man, gets to stick around. Maybe he starts on Sunday. Somebody has to.

Oh ok. I got MLB TV through TMobile but Mets/Yankees games are blacked out in NYC area. Only good when I’m visiting Philly area.

Keep this in mind. There are two things history has taught us about Conforto. One, he gets into long cold streaks. Two, he gets white hot too.
