Need an insurance run here. These Pirates are pesky. And have their best hitters up in the 9th.

Obviously would be a terrible loss and a bad way to go into the break. This is where a lack of confidence in Trevor May hurt. I think we could use another arm in the bullpen personally.
Nailed it. In an ideal world, May starts the eighth and Diaz the ninth. But given May's recent form, I can't second guess Rojas.

I wouldn't bet 5 bucks on that happening. For the last 30 games this has been an average team. No better than around. 500 I don't think. I'd be happy if we manage to win the series.

Because we can rarely score enough to win by a comfortable margin; even over teams like the Bucs, we had to use Lugo to where he wasn't available today just to get through the 2nd game yesterday.
The Mets' fate may be decided in August when they play 13 straight vs the Dodgers and the Giants.
And I would add that we had to use Lugo because we only got 3.2 innings from the starter. It's all connected.
Terrible loss today but every year a team will incur a terrible loss. Not the end of the world. I actually think having the all star break after this loss is a good thing for team to mentally rebound. I also think it’s a good thing we play pirates right after the all star break. There ll be motivation!

Since he is from Georgia, thought he was John Rocker's kid. His father, Tracy, played football for Auburn and in the NFL.
Would have been too ironic if John Rocker was his dad, he being such a lover of NYC.

As mentioned I know nothing about these prospects. But in reading the early reviews, it looks like today is a VERY good day for the Mets - today's game notwithstanding!
He was one of my least favorite athletes to deal with and interview.
Sounded like a real open-minded and low key guy who adjusted well to new surroundings. 🙄
