If your team is on the cusp of deciding whether or not to buy or sell before July 31 ST trade deadline, shutting down for any amount of time due to Covid is a killer. Was The Allstar game a Super Spreader event?

Finding it interesting as many that are getting COVID have been vaccinated. Not surprised though. My son, his fiancee and another family member were all vaccinated more than a month ago and recently all got COVID.
What I understand from our doctor when we asked about this is that those that are vaccinated can get COVID, though the chances are reduced, as are the symptoms when you get it but, it makes them very much less likely to spread it. At this point, who the hell knows.

May depend on which vaccine you get. IIRC, the J+J vaccine had only like a 68% prevention rate, but it pretty much eliminates deaths and serious hospitalizations.

Rotation for the weekend: Stroman tonight and deGrom on Sunday. Saturday is TBA depending on how Walker feels, having pitched an inning on Tuesday.

Then they really shouldn't be classified as vaccines correct? I'm fully vaccinated with Pfizer, but I'll just call it what it really is, a therapeutic. I'll put it in the same class as taking zinc to shorten a common cold. https://www.coldeeze.com/

If Villar is among the worst in the NL, why are people quick to replace Davis? If both are suspect when it comes to defense, then look at offensive numbers to decide which player should get more PT.

Dom just needed time to adapt. He lacked experience and consistent playing time.

Damm… WTH was JD Davis’ numbers if Villar was bad?
Saw this on line regarding Davis "Glovework is an issue with regard to Davis, who made three errors in his first 13 games at third base this season and carries an overall career mark of -21 Defensive Runs Saved there in just 864 innings."

Yea. Davis’s glove was brutally bad at the beginning at the year that Villar’s -2 looks like Brooks Robinson.

JD Davis activated as expected. What was not expected was how they made room for him. They DFA'D Billy McKinney. Did not see that coming.

Maybe they think he'll clear waivers. We shall see.

I’m sorry to see McKinney waived. He ll be claimed. If Guillome still had options, I would have demoted him. I liked McKinney. Wouldn’t shock me if Yankees pick him up with right field porch etc and their recent injuries etc.

I liked Billy also. I would have preferred the Beard. You don't need Peraza, Villar and the beard. McKinney had some speed and pop.

After a fast start early on with the long ball McKinney hadn't really done much lately outside of that one pinch hit against the shift.
That's because McKinney went from often playing to not playing at all. It's hard to produce regularly when you might get one or two ABs a week and start a game every other week. At this point, I would play McKinney over Conforto or split time between them. It couldn't hurt consider what Conforto has done so far this season.

Stroman swings at pitch 6 inches down and away on a guy who can’t find strike zone

no plan at the plate from any hitter

I've never seen an announcer have a weekend off. Just had the all-star break.
Which is why we wanted the weekend off. So he could get a whole week off.

Broadcasters negotiate all sorts of contractual deals. Darling and Hernandez both have a lot of contractual time off. In his final years with the Dodgers, Vin Scully never left the state of California. He did only home games, and an occasional Giant and Padre road series.

I can't get upset with Stroman as he's more concerned with pitching. It's the other guys who are expected to hit that aren't close. Those are the guys who are p*ssing me off.

0 for 12, including a DP, with runners in scoring position.

Having said that, now of course they probably won't get another runner in scoring position. That'll teach me to complain...
