OT: Official 2021 NY Mets Season Thread

Can everybody calm down? It was one game, and the first one of the season. Yes, it was a deflating loss, but stop extrapolating. Yankees fans were ready to thrown Stanton and Judge overboard before last night, and now a bunch of them are wetting their pants over them.

we've seen the same story too many times. These are the games we have to win.

Only 1 game in, and I hate this bullpen already. It's a broken record. Maybe should have spent the $340M on 10 new relief pitchers. Can't wait for Diaz too close. Yay. An over-reaction due to 1 game into the season, sure. However, the Mets bullpen has been the major weakness of this club for multiple years.

I think you were being sarcastic; in that case I agree with you. Those 77 pitches were coming in at about 100 miles an hour.; DeGrom is putting a lot of stress on his arm, and Mets fans should want him to have a long career. If I were DeGrom's manager, I'd want to give him as much time off as possible to recover from outings. But pulling him after 77 pitches and 6 innings with only a two-run lead against a team with offense.

Neither of us being sarcastic- by stressful, we are not talking physical. There is a huge difference when you are pitching in trouble all the time or pressure situations as opposed to just gliding along. With deGrom, throwing 100 is not hurting his arm any more than throwing 96...I would bet, his arm itself has nothing to do with those extra few mph

Tomorrow is going to be diffuclt vs Nola and a bottom third of lineup that will include Nimo and may include Guillorme.

I would like to see Mcneil play 3rd and put Villar at 2nd base f JD can't go. Dude can run.

Maybe I'll be surprised and JD will play.

It's all relative. To Phillie fans, this game (the sixth inning in particular) was as much of a nightmare as the eighth inning of Game 1 was to us. When you are the beneficiary of someone else's nightmare, it's a nice win. All wins are nice.

My point is that contrary to what some on this board seem to believe, we are not the only team that occasionally implodes. Happens to everyone. Happens less to winning teams. We shall see.

Back to Los Mets, here’s David Peterson’s chance to prove to some that 2020 was not a fluke, which I don’t know how some can sour on a rookie who went 6-2, 3.44, 1.21. Would be a great outing in a good matchup vs Aaron Nola.

Still one of the best lineups out there. Why they are sitting McNeil when Davis is out, mind boggling. I would much prefer Villar in there and move McNeil to 3B. Keeping in mind that Villar could be a starter at 2B for a lot of teams. His speed itself, is a weapon. Though, I would bat Villar 8th.
