Dom missed a double by about a foot foul, and then had one caught at the wall.

You are a hard grader.
I'm just saying he has become an expected out from my perspective, and so I was pleasantly unaffected when he moved to 0-5.

Now can these jokers hold a 3 4 run lead so we can move to 1-5 in this stretch of torture.

Can we please take advantage of an opposing team injury. Time to hammer the bullpen.
Well we did “lay the hammer in them”. Did not think it would take 12 innings though. At least the offense finally woke up.

All it took was the Mets to go very very deep into the Giants bullpen. San Fran used NINE pitchers

Road underdogs in Game 3's on 5 game losing streaks have done very well over the years. In 2014,they went 7-0.
Still,if Kapler let Rogers pitch the ninth, this may not have happened.

The key to these extra innings is to get more than 1 run in.
Correct. Visiting team cannot under any circumstances play for one run. Until Rojas. Having Mazeika bunt in the 10th was a head scratcher to say the least. Especially since he is a lefty. At minimum, you are looking for him to advance the runner simply by pulling the ball.

That may have been Rojas' weirdest decision yet. But all's well that ends well, I suppose.

Couple things we need to talk about.

How about Diaz in a non save situation being lights out?
Very small sample size but love Jake Reed
TM seems to have found his stuff again after a very good 1st half of the season

One thing for sure we won't get any help from the Marlins who can apparently beat only us. And who does Atlanta get next as we move onto the Dodgers? The Orioles! 😏 The Baltimore Birds who are on a 13 game losing streak. During which they've been outscored by around 60 runs.

Mets have now used 61 players. The record is 67, set by Seattle in 2019. However, that was when the September roster limit went up to 40, which is no longer the case.

61 is a lot of players!

I don't want to see McNeil or Davis back. Especially not with McNeil as a 3B. 3B is a power position and what we need are some guys who can hit for power and also a good average. Meaning 275-290. The damn Braves are now taking over the division this season because even without Acuna they have at least 5 guys with over 20 hrs including their entire infield. And 2 guys with over 80 rbi's. We have zero. Hell their entire infield also has more RBI's than anyone on our team. And McNeil doesn't hit for a high enough average to carry his low power numbers at a position like 3B. I could see if he was a .320 guy who you could stick at leadoff to jump start the offense. But all he'd do is swing at the damn 1st pitch all the time.
I don’t really understand this type of view on McNeil. He is having a bad year, but, he is normally a .310+ guy. For a guy like McNeil, I do think that this just isn’t a good year.
He actually reminds my of D Murphy before he left to the Nats.
but let’s say we do sign Baez to play 2B- I would actually prefer to try to trade Smith and put NcNeil in LF but if we need to put him at 3B, I would be ok with it.
the problem with next year, outside of a couple of players that are not SS, there isn’t much there.
With this team, outside of Alonso or Lindor/ McMann who both are signed, I would have no problem trading any positional player.

For the benefit of minor league prospect geeks like myself, MLB Pipeline has updated its Mets Top 30!

Items that caught my eye:

1) The top six are Alvarez, Baty (stock up!) Mauricio, Allan, Ginn, and Vientos. My guess is that this is where the line is drawn as to the "top tier" prospects that the Mets don't want to part with.

2) Three 2021 draftees got slotted in: Dominic Hamel #11, Calvin Ziegler #12, and Christian Scott #28. No Kumar Rocker. 😪

3) Tylor Megill and Yennsy Diaz have "graduated" off the list, as they no longer have rookie status.

4) 2021 Mets who haven't yet graduated are Khalil Lee #8, Travis Blankenhorn #18, Thomas Szapucki #19, and Patrick Mazeika #26.

5) Carlos Rincon, the guy the Mets got in the Billy McKinney trade, is at #24.

6) Shervyen Newton, their #5 prospect in 2019, has plummeted to #27. Stocks rise and fall.

7) Keep an eye on Carlos Cortes #10. MLB Pipeline gives him an ETA of 2021. In other words, they think he's ready now.

To your #7 point I would keep an eye on #13 Jose Butto having a really good year. Reports have been very positive and think he plays a big part on the squad next year especially with SP depth thin.

One other observation. There is a dearth of athleticism, at least at the top. The Mets top four position prospects (Alvarez, Baty, Mauricio, and Vientos) all have the same basic profile - power bats with below average speed. Baty and Vientos play the same position, and Mauricio is projected there as well.

I miss Crow-Armstrong already.
