OT: Official 2021 NY Mets Season Thread

They made it to the WS not that long ago with Sandy. He's no dummy.
And the two teams that they beat in the playoffs that year has been a hell of a lot more successful than the Mets in the last 5 years.

I don't know who gets credit for it but I know the farm system now has some solid position players coming at what will be positions of need in Alvarez, Mauricio, Baty, Crow-Armstrong. They do need to develop a multi-tool corner OF with power.

I am hoping BVW tries his hand at being a football GM. He could then hire Chris Ash as head coach and thus open the most potentially entertaining thread in this board's history.

Hate to say it but Kelenic's physique; stature; demeanor etc remind me of a lefty Mike Trout. These next 15 years will be torture. Thank goodness at least he's in the AL.

Eh. At least we wouldn't have to worry about ever facing him in a World Series then.

McNeil pulls up making a horrible decision to try and get 2 on a ball right to CF.
He was starting to hit

He was out by 30 feet before pulling up
Out by 50 feet because he pulled up
Didn’t rip for hustle. It was a horrible decision to try and get 2.

I can hustle and not give up on a play and hit QB 3 steps too late. I never gave but made a horrible decision to light up QB.

Nimmo should be back this weekend but Davis will be longer per Rojas in the pregame.

McNeil left with body cramps.

Rojas has to be the worst manager in the game. Stroman should have been left in. Ground ball pitcher with a low pitch count against a slow batter with a bad hammy. So bad.

Singles other way scores first run of game

shift , 3B way off line close to SS position

I'm sure the shift works most time, but we're talking about the Mets here. They have a way of f'ing up a wet dream.

St. Louis went out of their way to take advantage of the shift and now Baltimore has done the same.

Maybe he pulled up injuring his legs while trying to stretch a hit into a double. Players get reemed for dogging it. Now players are getting reemed for hustling. 🤷🏻‍♂️
There are 3-4 posters on this thread that are constant misery and doom and gloom. How long will some keep bringing up Kelenic? Haven't looked, but has someone complained about Amora running into the wall?

For as bad as it feels we have played, 3rd best record in the NL and 90+ win pace.
mans it feels like we are under .500
And, we have Noah, Carasco, Lugo, Nimmo, Davis all joining us again within the next few weeks to a month.

Ugly win but I'll take it.......9th inning walk off rallies by the Mets are quite rare but fun !

The good:

-Stro was terrific again
- Nice job by bullpen once again
- 9th inning walk off rally
- Pillar is raking....
- Great AB by Dom Smith
- Great hustle by Villar
- Mazieka is poised....has a good bat...hope he DH's in Tampa over the weekend

The bad:

- More injuries...ugh
- James McCann.....please bench him and play Nido

I think Mazeika may have gone out in a blaze of glory. If either McNeil or Almora are hurt badly enough that a short term replacement is needed, but not badly enough to go on IL, then Mazeika probably goes down. With our sincerest thanks.

Question about the McNeil injury. I didn’t watch the game but everything I read says he pulled up a few feet from 2B but a poster says he was about 30-50 feet away from the bag on a hit directly to the CF.
What did actually happen? He makes an all time blunder as poster states or was he hustling on a hit that he hoped he may catch them off guard?
