McNeil always hustles always plays hard and wears his emotions on his sleeve. That’s why fans love him . But I don’t know what he saw when he tried to take second , CF didn’t loaf or bobble ball , pretty much right to him. It was just a bad decision to put it into overdrive because he was out by 30 feet

hope he plays today and get 2 hits off of Harvey in 3 innings and Lindor has 2 2 run homers which gets Harvey pulled after 2 and 2/3 today

All good- like I said- didn't watch game but have heard all sorts of reports- was reading in a couple of articles that he pulled up a few feet from the base and then saw this morning that it said he pulled up 2/3's of the way to 2B that would have him in the 30 ft range. Not sure why he would do that either unless they had all noticed the CF dogging it earlier in the game and thought they could catch him sleeping.
Oh well- I can't hold it against McNeil- he is a player that just plays baseball the old fashioned way...He could be playing in any decade.

If he didn't pull up he would have been a dead duck regardless. It was a terrible decision and has nothing to do with how he hustles.

Win today and its 7 straight with a team that is banged up and still not hitting. Pillar and Villar have been Godsends. Speed kills.

While the jury is out with the two major moves this off season...McCann and Lindor- though, I still feel we end up very happy with both when all said and done...the “other” moves have been very good. Loup, May, Stroman, Pillar, Villar...
Carasco is still yet to be seen. Luchessi? Who knows but didn’t risk much, same with Almora.

even sticking with Nido as backup catcher looks good now too.

Stroman has almost become a must sign after this year now too.

Question about the McNeil injury. I didn’t watch the game but everything I read says he pulled up a few feet from 2B but a poster says he was about 30-50 feet away from the bag on a hit directly to the CF.
What did actually happen? He makes an all time blunder as poster states or was he hustling on a hit that he hoped he may catch them off guard?

He would have made it if he didn't get hurt IMHO. Darling was hammering him for a bad decision then toned it down when he saw he got hurt and was pretty darn close to making it anyway.

Can’t find any highlight videos of it. Would love to see it myself. As I just keep hearing such options that are not even close. Either he was a mile away or it may have been close.

Yeah - meant to post on this last night. Pillar and Villar have been fantastic additions.
Pillar is a great 4th OF. Not sure if still a full time guy but when needed, he is not that much of a drop off.
Villar- could be a starter on a lot of teams. And his speed brings something we need on this team. These two guys are the type of bench players championships are made out of.
both are also just good baseball players too

Yes I may be a touch negative sometimes but I have same feeling as 2015 , get into playoffs and the pitching can win a World Series. Having Noah or Cookie come in the 5th/6th to finish off game would be great
Jake be Jake
Stro pitch at high level and let it fly for 5 innings
Cookie
Noah
Walker
Lugo
May
Diaz stays on same path back
That’s a damn good playoff pitching staff

Quite honestly, Gsell hasn’t been horrible this year and Familia has been damn good too.
agree- this staff is made for the playoffs

BINGO!!!

Khalil Lee up. Almora to IL.
You know it's tough when your backups are going to miss playing time. The Mets have a lot of important guys going on the IL. The Mets have two everyday players on the IL and two backups on the IL. What's the status of McNeil?

McNeil available off bench today.

You forgot Walker for sure.

Some random thoughts. I think Nimmo will be losing a lot of starts to Pillar when there is a lefty pitcher facing us. A milestone for Francisco. Above the .200 mark. First time this season I assume? Dom Smith is heating up and looking more like the breakout player from last season.

From the standpoint of the 40 man roster, the Mets depth has been fully expended. There are no healthy non-pitchers left.

MCann was one I was talking about. It was right after his atbat. Almore got hurt for crying out loud.

Took me a minute to find this off Google.

Thank you for finding it and it isn't like one poster was say- a hit right at the CF...With the position of the CF I could see McNeil either thinking he hit it harder and it would go past the CF or if the CF took a bad line to it and wasn't in position to throw. The CF made the play because he made a GREAT line to the ball and was in position to throw with momentum. A lot of CF would have gone straight line and may have had to do a full turn before throwing.

You forgot Walker for sure.
You are right...At the moment- I would say the Met's had a great off season. I still don't like many things Sandy does but he got players that do make winning teams. Imagine if Luchesi also gets his fett under himself.

Nice sweep of the homestand. I don't care who it was against. Now back to the road for 3 each in Tampa, Atlanta and Miami. I want to be greedy and say 6-3 but I'd be good with a 5-4 trip as long as we follow that up by coming back home and kicking ass again starting with Colorado in 12 days.

Agreed. Must go 6-3 to keep the momentum going.

18-13. Reading the last few pages of this thread, would think Mets were 13-18.
I still don’t like Sandy Rojas... But break this sorry bunch up, gosh darn it!!!!!!!

Seriously this is a great start considering the hitting was atrocious AF!!!! Here’s hoping the winning ways continue

I was a little nervous about the Mets facing Harvey today. I know he was juiced to face them, pumped after getting a great welcome back from Mets fans, and seeing how well he handcuffed the Yankees. Turns out, he looked nothing like the pitcher the Yankees couldn't touch. Now it's 7 in a row, baby!!
