Well my prediction is coming true. We win game one and Moore with the plus 7 era tosses a shutout.
Would love to see some killer instinct with this team. How often have they won the first 2 games of a series and come out and pull a clunker in game three? And here you have a team that had to be down after that 1st game loss. And conversely your team should be energized, fired up and eager to get back out there and put a foot on their necks. And this is what you come up with? Against Matt friggin Moore. The journeyman's journeyman. Drives me crazy. And the Nats are finally getting smashed tonight so there was a chance to really get put some added space there.
The Mets seem happy to split games. Killer instinct isn't something you develop all of a sudden. Either you have it or don't. This team doesn't.

All in all, I'd say the split was the proper outcome. Neither team deserved to win one game, much less two.
Even with the day off yesterday we were short. DIaz and Loup needed a day. Somehow kept a 2 man bench in the 1st game with Villar going to IL in between. Bats still stink for some reason. Hoping for a surge eventually. McNeil 0-7 very surprising.
And folk wanted to put all the blame on Chili Davis. The everyday player should be kissing the *sses of the pitching staff. Where would this team be without them?
The frustration and negative posts come from the belief that this team can win and win a title but the hitting has just been awful.

I saw a tweet about a week ago stating how McCann looks at so many fastballs for a third strike down the middle of the plate. I didn't think much of the statement until I focused on it of late. It does seem to be true. Earlier in the week, I watched Peraza swing at a pitch that should have hit him. He fouled it off. I'm thinking to myself, these guys don't see the pitches. They have made up their minds to swing regardless of the pitch.
The Mets look confused at the plate. I do not know if its true but I read the team gets very detailed scouting reports on the opposing pitcher and plan their at bats according to the reports. It seems opposing pitchers have been deviating from the reports and mixing it up and the Mets seem confused. Maybe just let them go up there and rip. Over thinking things is hurting us.
Of course the other theory is that I heard is the team just can't hit the off speed and breaking stuff. That's why guys like Moore have been so successful against us. Either way they have to start changing their approach.
Yes, but he is being paid to hit HR's. A Pete single is usually followed by a McCann double play. I still say put him back in the two hole and let Lindor hit three hole.
To state the obvious, if a decent number of those guys don’t start hitting, scoring will remain a problem.
To state what has not been stated here, the pitching staff has a good number of players performing better than usual, and that needs to continue or slightly improved hitting may not matter.
I was at doubleheader and I’m greedy. Bases loaded no outs in 7th and the game should have been won right there. I thought mazieka would at least tie game. McNeil is struggling and looks awful. I don’t like his approach at the plate. Swinging defensively. Look at the Batting averages on this team. Awful.
