It's called a slump. They happen even to good players.
The above post was about McNeil. While the trend is short, in the last 7 days he has picked it up again. Hope it sticks.

Will take some AB’s from Canha vs RHP
Jankowski in a 0-forever stretch.
Could see Naquin and Vogel in lineup tonight vs Alcantara.
Maybe misreading the forum, and it is not just you, but why do people think this about Canha?
Comparing Canha's stats to Nimmo's:
Avg: .271 vs. .262
OBP: .368 vs. .342
SLG: .380 vs. .421
OPS: .748 vs .764

Seems to a marginal difference in offense? And not looking to crap on Nimmo. Just wondering why Canha gets some angst?

You're correct overall the numbers are similar but when you dig deeper you see Nimmo is balanced as a hitter vs righties and lefties and well Canha is not.

Canha quick splits as shown below.

Vs L .218/.313/.327 92 wRC+
Vs R .301/.397/.410 140 wRC+

Nimmo
Vs L .260/.347/.435 127 wRC+
Vs R .263/.340/.414 119 wRC+

I disagree with some I think you have to be willing to part with prospects like Vientos and Mauricio to fortify a WS roster. Both strike out a ton. Vientos doesn’t really have a defensive position. These are expendable pieces not seemingly can’t miss guys like Alvarez and Baty.

Mets have holes. They have a ton free agents on the horizon. They are primed THIS YEAR. I think you have to part with them to upgrade some combo of the bullpen, catcher, and JD Davis.

Thanks for that. THAT is what I have been missing then. Maybe someone addressed the point, but it went over my head. Not the first time, nor will it be the last.

Yanks got Montas from the As
Sounds like the Yankees have fleeced MLB at the trade deadline once again. They didn't have to part with any of their top 4 prospects. And Gallo is still on the roster.

The more I hear (rumors of course) of what some of these other teams are asking from us for the big bats, the more I like the idea of just trying to get Wilmer back and securing an a lefty arm.
ALWAYS HAPPENS!!!!

Other teams can give up Luis Sojo and 2 PTBNL to get the best players they can get while those same teams always ask the Mets for the 5 best prospects, David Wright, Tom Seaver, Pete Alonso, and $3 Billion

Mancini got dealt for Houston’s #12 prospect and fringe Major Leaguer. Should take the price down for JD Martinez to something similar I would think.

Houston just traded for Vazquez as well so it looks like its Contreras or The Mets are stuck with McCann/Nido.

Look for Omar Narvaez possibly.

The issue is that the Yankee prospects run deeper. So those outside their top 5 still have some trade value. The Mets system has little depth.
Well that issue also means they can be more loose with giving prospects aways. We can't. Last thing I'd want to see is the end of the week look and see Khalil Lee or Carlos Cortes in our top 5 prospects list.

Respectfully Disagree. Don’t need to trade any of our top prospects. Look at the deals made to date for Montas / Benentendi / Mancini / Vasquez etc. No top prospects involved. Stay firm and hold onto assets in farm system. Whether it’s JD Martinez or Contreras or David Robertson - the relinquishment of a top prospect is not needed.
