You're correct overall the numbers are similar but when you dig deeper you see Nimmo is balanced as a hitter vs righties and lefties and well Canha is not.

Canha quick splits as shown below.

Vs L .218/.313/.327 92 wRC+
Vs R .301/.397/.410 140 wRC+

Nimmo
Vs L .260/.347/.435 127 wRC+
Vs R .263/.340/.414 119 wRC+
Y'all can thank me for nudging Nimmo to perform better tonight. 🤣

Don't make a deal today for the sake of public relations like we did last year with Baez. Apparently the Cubs are not thrilled with our farm system so don't overpay for a rental like Contreras. Over time I think Crow - Armstrong, not Kelenic will be the one we regret letting get away.

Mets top five realistic remaining trade candidates, per Rising Apple:

1) David Robertson
2) Josh Bell
3) Willson Contreras
4) Andrew Chafin
5) Brandon Drury

Interesting that the Rising Apple guy rates Drury over Martinez.

If you were the Mets, who would you give up to make this work?

And with all the talk about MLB keeping an eye and a leash around Steve Cohen, how come the Padres and Dodgers have seemingly unlimited moves and budgets lol?

Everyone is scared by JD's back. He hasn't well in a couple of months now.

I would like an arm and an OF platoon bat to hit against LHP. Drury and Chafin/Fulmer. Flores or Solano from SF. If the price is too high don't overpay.

We did not fare to well against the Padres this year. I don't want to see them improve their offense. Hope Soto stays put until the off season.

I have felt all along that Soto would stay put into the off-season. A blockbuster like that rarely comes together at the deadline.

Padres are being aggressive for Soto so seems like it might go down. They have the pieces. I wonder what major leaguers they'd need to give up, if any at all.

Since I don't want to give up either Alonso or Baty, I can't make a Soto trade work. Keep in mind Soto is still a rental, albeit a longer term rental.

Soto will probably demand 40 million plus per year. Cannot see how the Padres can afford him long term. Dodgers yes, as well as the other big market clubs. Do you gut your farm system for a two year rental if you are the Padres? Maybe if you think you can win it all this year.

It's funny, I never saw C-A as a big time prospect. Looking at how he has played over the 2 years- this guy can rake, run and field. You are right, he may be the big prospect we let get away for nothing.

Thank to the idiots who were responsible for the trade. One is fake drunk GM and the other one is over-the-hill front office guy. 🤬

I was curious so just went back to the trade deadline dates in last years thread. A lot of funny as always. My initial reaction to the trade.

"Giving up Pete Crow Armstrong. Puke face."

I want the Mets to do something, but they ARE a great team now and have a vastly improved minor league system. If deGrom is deGrom, Mets acquired a 2 time Cy young winner for nothing. Good pitching beats good hitting in the post season, and the Mets have that. They need to add a couple bullpen pieces, but they have better depth there already with their players coming back.

All these teams are adding players at the cost of their farms. Most of them (If not all) are not going to win the WS this year. The Mets will ultimately be in good position going forward.... Some of their farm could turn out to be studs...... that is how Atlanta and the Dodgers roll.

Again- get me Flores and a setup guy and don't rape the farm...But what I seem to see in MLB is that no owner/GM is willing to work with Cohen unless he over pays.
If I am Cohen- I don't over pay for anyone and wait until some of these big names become FA's and then just say F the Cohen tax...

Yanks coming down to earth tbh. Dealt with very few injuries and hit walk offs at a very high rate.

It won’t last forever.

Besides, the Mets kind of just pumped the Yanks.

I assume you must have meant a DH platoon? There's already the makings of an LF platoon with Canha and Naquin.

OF/DH yes. Can rotate whenever they see fit. Canha, Vogel, and Naquin all hit RHP better than LHP. Canha no power at all against RHP though.

To be honest- as good as the Yanks have been- if the season ended right now- I think the Met's would finish just 4 games behind them.
But, their pickups so far at trade deadline have been very good for the needs of their team.
