Got it. That's what I thought you might have been saying, but it got lost in the noise/loud music. It is because I am not talking about his bat being the reason. I heard the GM talking about it a couple of days ago and he made it clear- he is not ready behind the plate to be at the major league level. He needs to stay in aaa to get his catching skills better.
I am confused why anyone is confused as to what I am saying- shut out the noise from the other posters. I am talking about his defense and ability to call a game or have the confidence of his pitchers as the reason he isn’t coming up anytime soon.
We all agree. After this I'm done.
Because just looking at BA is ridiculous in such a small sample. He has an almost .900 OPS even with the low BA. His bat is already major league ready. He can come up and hit today. The FO knows better than to look at that.
He needs to stay down to work on his D so that becomes major league ready. He could have a .400 BA and they'd keep him down if they don't think his D is ready.
Think it was the multiple posts and talking past each other. I think willis agreed with both of you, but was just focused on the BA, which I don't completely disagree with.I just don’t understand how this is so confusing to anyone.
Similar thing with my often sarcastic defense of McCann. I can understand how he becomes the object of Mets fans derision. He is being paid a lot of money. But looking at his career, he has done well when he plays regularly. Even last year (2021 season), he was on a good run through June and July, and then he went on the IL in August, and has not been the same since. In 2022, he has played 5 games in May, 3 in June and 6 in July (off since July 7).
Maybe McCann will never return to decent form, and he is shot. Eppler will have a decision to make on whether they eat the remaining 2 years of his contract at the end of this year and move on.
