Interesting to see the different philosophies of the Mets and Braves. Braves have called up two hotshot prospects straight from DOUBLE A this year. Skipping AAA completely.

Mets, you have to assume, will call up Kosuke Gatoh to replace Guillorme if he goes on the IL. Gatoh was going to replace McNeil/Escobar if they went on the IL. Instead of Baty.

Someone said days ago that Vogelbach swings just with his arms. He actually clears his hips very well to generate bat speed. That, and being big, is how he hits the ball so hard with such a short swing. It’s by no means an arms-only swing.

One nice outfield assist from sweep !
1 run in first inning of first game except for free runner in extras

F.T.P. !!!!

I will sign up for 5-3 in the next 8 games right now. We did great this homestand. A decent road trip and the deal is sealed.

4 Against the Braves, then 4 against Phillies, then 2 against Yankees. No days off until Aug. 24
Braves have Mets, then 3 against Houston then 3 against Pittsburgh.

So-so pitching line for David Peterson today in Syracuse. Four innings, 72 pitches, two runs, eight hits, two walks, seven strikeouts, and a pickoff at first base. His next outing will be in Philly on Saturday.

BTW, Baty played LF today, with Vientos at 3rd.

He seems to pitch better under the bright lights then when he is down at AAA. At least as a starter.

Yes we always seem to be very conservative in calling up players to begin their careers. Can't recall the last time we had someone make their debut at like 21. I guess there's a better than good chance that Alvarez will. I just hope it's not a thing of trying to delay the clock on them and their time to arbitration and free agency.

Why not call up Maurico to play 3B? He played there a lot in the spring. Braves called up two kids from AA this season and they don't seem to be afraid to play rookies.

Why didn't the Mets move to Meadowlands?

It took almost 3 hours to get home last night.

So much for express trains.
It was crazy getting out of parking lot I park in last night. This is what happens with sellout crowd and everyone stays until end of game.

If anyone why call up the person batting around .250 and has been playing SS all year, over the person who hit over .300 at AA and has been tearing it up at AAA since his callup while being primarily a 3B

Where is all of this talk of deGrom going to Atlanta or Philly? deGrom dominates them, and soon after, both claims they would be the perfect landing spot for him. Philly thinks by clearing $77 million off the books, they will have enough to sign him. Not sure where Atlanta's angle comes into play.

Gonna take more than Jake grew up a Braves fan. Everybody in the South was a Braves fan because before the Marlins and Rays came along they were the only team in that entire Southeast region of the country. Doesn't mean he wants to play for them.

All things being honest and equal- I actually believe Jake has a full understanding of legacy as much as $$$
He can see a path to championships for the first time here in NY then anywhere else.
I could not see him not giving the Mets the last and best. We won’t get a discount but we get a chance to better..,

At least one fact missing in this vast generalization is that more often than not the Braves have been calling up better prospects.

If Guillorme goes to IL, the problem with bringing up Baty is that the Mets then have no backup 2B and SS.

Having to carry two DH's who can only play 1B does create a roster construction problem.

I believe Escobar has played some 2nd in the past but you’re absolutely correct.

Not to mention that Escobar can’t swing RH right now which, needless to say, is not good.

The beautiful thing about this season. Look at teams like the Yanks who traded some pretty good minor league talent at the trade deadline. So far it has not paid off. We still have at least 5 players that will either be playing for us next year or will be a trade chip for major league talent. Everyone from the players to Buck, the GM, hitting and pitching coaches getting the job done. LFGM
