7-0 now, still only 1 out.San Diego leading San Francisco 1-0 in bottom of the eighth.
As a Phillies fan, I think I'd rather they stay where they are in the last wild card and play the Cardinals. The Mets have owned the Phils this year.

If you’re a Padre fan you’re crazy.I hope that somehow the Mets catch the Braves.I don't want to play the Mets best of three.
Are the Met pitchers healthy? I don't follow them at all but I know I don't want to see Scherzer and DeGrom. Again I have no idea if they're hurt or not.If you’re a Padre fan you’re crazy.
This is the best possible matchup for us right now.
Our pitching matches up with theirs and our bats are significantly better on the road than they are at home.
We do not want to play Atlanta at all. Only other way to justify it is saying you’d rather play the Doyers in the NLCS instead of the NLDS.
Darvish and Snell are both top 5 pitchers in the NL right now.Are the Met pitchers healthy? I don't follow them at all but I know I don't want to see Scherzer and DeGrom. Again I have no idea if they're hurt or not.
I love Yu and he does match up well. Snellzilla has been crazy over the second half. Joe looked sharp tonight.Darvish and Snell are both top 5 pitchers in the NL right now.
Darvish just got NL pitcher of the month and Snell’s numbers are absurd right now.
DeGrom has not been good this month and Scherzer is Scherzer, but we’ve gotten to him in the past.
I call the pitching matchup a wash since all 4 starters are nasty. If it goes to a game 3 I trust Musgrove to close it out.
Ultimately I just think our bats are better, if it were at home I’d feel differently.
Scherzer will forever be the pitcher that gave up a grand slam to Camarena to me.I love Yu and he does match up well. Snellzilla has been crazy over the second half. Joe looked sharp tonight.
Scherzer worries me. I looked it up and except for a terrible outing last Sept. he's done pretty well historically vs. the Pods.

Max Scherzer Stats Vs Padres | StatMuse
Max Scherzer had a record of 7-5 with an ERA of 3.08 and 166 strikeouts in 20 appearances versus the Padres in his career.www.statmuse.com
I remember when he pitched for Trenton when he was in the Yankee system.Scherzer will forever be the pitcher that gave up a grand slam to Camarena to me.
If the Braves lose again tomorrow and the Mets win the next two, do you pitch DeGrom on Wednesday?Prefer the Phillies.
As to @Doctor Worm 's post, while improbable, would you mind if the Braves lose the next two and the Mets win three in a row? Stranger things have happened.
I answered that above. Make it a bullpen game? Petersen or Megill to start? What do I know?If the Braves lose again tomorrow and the Mets win the next two, do you pitch DeGrom on Wednesday?
Yeah Omar and Terry should STFU and listen to the REAL MLB experts on this board!!!!!!On SNY Baseball tonight even Terry Collins thought putting Alvarez in yesterday was a bad move. I think Omar Minaya agreed. But what do they know?
You don't have to root too hard although I am basing my comments off a Monmouth county forecast.I am rooting for more rain. No point in their playing games which may not be necessary.
Plus we need it.
I only don’t want to play the Cards in St. Louis, although would be a cool spot to see a game.
Cards are below .500 on the road this season.

Haha I lived in SD for 6 years and I believe @colbert17 does as well."Our"? We have two Padres fans on this board??!!

They should have won the games in Atlanta so that they wouldn’t be in this position. What if the braves lose tonight? Then the Mets need to play the games, at least until tomorrow night if the Braves win and it's over. I just hope the Mets aren't forced to play a game Thursday, with the wildcard starting on Friday, that would be BS

I was going to go the same wayI am assuming tonight is a washout for the Mets.
If so, and if the Braves lose tonight, then the Mets will have to schedule two tomorrow. That in itself will be iffy. It does set up the possibility of an "if necessary" game on Thursday.
In no way is that the best case...If there is ANY possible way to get a bye in the first round- you want it.I hope Mets are rained out, and I hope Braves win today so those games won't matter and play the subs in any makeup games.
It also pretty much guarantees you’ll be in the NLCS too.In no way is that the best case...If there is ANY possible way to get a bye in the first round- you want it.
The way things sound with Marte- he may not be ready even for the WC round- in what world would that benefit us.
A Met's fan has to want the Braves to lose today and give us at least a remote shot to win the division.
And quite honestly- I do not want a season that has 3 last games that do not matter. It may happen, but to wish for it. hell no
After the Braves lost yesterday- this is the reason I cannot believe a Met's fan would hope they win today or we lose and have to run the much harder gauntlet. It also pretty much guarantees you’ll be in the NLCS too.
The NL is pretty lopsided, the #2 seed gets a relatively clear path while #1, #4, and #5 will be the Dodgers, Padres, and Mets/Braves.
Pretty insane compared to Mets/Braves, Cardinals, and Phillies.
Just wait until Judge signs with the Giants next season. This league is loaded.
I agree. After the Braves lost yesterday- this is the reason I cannot believe a Met's fan would hope they win today or we lose and have to run the much harder gauntlet.
Most likely, Met's will still be the 3 but when there is a chance for 2 as little of a chance there is- you have to go balls out for it!
I was going to bring that up too- even if the Met's win the next 2 and the Braves lose today- if it came down to the last day and then Met's lost it then- well, I would much rather go into any playoff series that way than having the last real memory being the sweep at Atl.I agree.
There is some SD fan talk about wanting to tank for #6, but I disagree with that. You want to be in win mode going into the playoffs.
For you guys, getting better seeding would mean you’ve ripped off wins and gained momentum. It’s the type of move that gets you prepped for a WS run
Fu@k the memory, chances are maybe 20% the Mets catch the Braves. Set up the pitching for the 3 games, hopefully get the bats in order and THAT would get them going on a high note for the round they should have had in their back pocket. At some point, stop being a fanatic, and think logically. Your no bigger a Mets fan than me, believe me. Not wanting to empty the pitching chamber on a 20% pipe dream, I'd rather load it for the next 2 weeks!I was going to bring that up too- even if the Met's win the next 2 and the Braves lose today- if it came down to the last day and then Met's lost it then- well, I would much rather go into any playoff series that way than having the last real memory being the sweep at Atl.
not comparing fandom...but you want the manager to do two things here- yes, set the rotation up for the playoffs...But my starters are going to be playing until that magic number is gone.Fu@k the memory, chances are maybe 20% the Mets catch the Braves. I thought Colbert17 was out in Asia?Haha I lived in SD for 6 years and I believe @colbert17 does as well.
It’s impossible to not root for them when you live there, it’s all the city has and Fernando is honestly the most fun baseball player I’ve ever seen play
That is correct sir!!!I thought Colbert17 was out in Asia?
sucks that Wed game would be scheduled at the same time- would be nice to know if there was a shot to win the division or if we already lost it by the time a SP had to take the mound.Even one win in Atlanta would've probably been enough to win the division. I still say go for it until the chances are zero. Odorizzi is mediocre, he could lose for the Braves tonight. The Nats are the worst team in the NL so it is a good chance to get the offense going again. I would not jeopardize thr starting rotation to win the division unless a game 162 is somehow scheduled for Thursday and it is for the division. At that point, winning one game vs. the Nats counts the same as beating the Padres or Phillies. HELL YEAH I would pitch Jacob deGrom if that was on the line.
It could hurt the Mets in this case, but I like MLB having all final games being played at the same time so nobody can tank to try to set up a more favorable matchup. This is the way soccer typically plays the final group stage games of major tournaments, too. Too bad the Marlins won't have Alcantara on the mound tomorrow or the pressure on the Braves tonight could be huge.sucks that Wed game would be scheduled at the same time- would be nice to know if there was a shot to win the division or if we already lost it by the time a SP had to take the mound.
