OT: Official 2022 NY Yankees Season And Post Season Thread

This thread is awesome. Read all the previous comments and assumed they lost. We're also back to firing Cashman again. Plus, Gallo hit what was the game winning home run, ultimately.
I knew they won...barely...against the Orioles.
Answer these 2 questions
Should Gallo be playing everyday and a benefit to the roster?
Is Chapman the closer he once was? Should he be the closer 100% of the time?

No to both. That is a valid point.

However, you can't just cut 30 million dollars worth of players. If Cashman doesn't make any major improvements at the deadline, I'll get on board with you and question his job security. They need to go for it this year and not hoard prospects or worry about payroll. I 'm just willing to wait and see the full picture before I worry about it.

Even with the HR- Gallo just shouldn’t be playing.
Yanks do need to get a good starter and Cashman is in a win it all this year or get out, type of year. Will ownership let him spend money or prospects to get it done?

Cut Gallo, use Chapman for more situational rolls. There is absolutely zero reason Gallo is taking a roster spot. It's been evident for months. No reason he should be playing over a prospect.

Agree- just cut Gallo and eat his contract at this point. You can’t even try to move him in a trade- no one would take him, even if the Yankees are most of his contract. He is addition by subtraction

I've actually read that there are a couple of teams actually interested in acquiring Gallo. I think San Diego was one of them.
No, I can't figure what they see in him.

It is easy to second guess, but was King used too much in the first half?

This is a big, big loss as Loisiaga doesn't look anywhere close to picking up the slack.

This team is starting to show some big cracks that will need to be addressed.

So I'm watching the Cub's game...do they go after David Robertson?

Pathetic loss tonight.
Yankees 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position.
Yanks have now lost 8 of their last 12 games.
Times are suddenly tough for the Bronx Bombers.
BTW, Judge 4 for 5 tonight.

They're definitely slumping right now, but the good part is it forces Cashman to add pieces at the deadline rather than just hope everything holds together.

If they don't reach the WS...either Cashman or Boone should be gone.

Super match-ups Tuesday and Wednesday in Queens:
Montgomery vs. Walker
Scherzer vs. German

I think both go or both stay.

The team is starting to slip into the same funk as some previous years.

Home run or bust. Can't extend innings and far too many KOs.

And the relievers have fallen back to earth. There's a lot of needs at the deadline and with the extra wild card team this year, there will be more teams buying and less selling. Cashman won't be able to patch all the holes.

This one is on Montgomery.
And all of those 0-4 guys in the lineup tonight.
BTH, awful matchup Wednesday. No confidence in Domingo.

My son thought he was tipping off pitches the first inning the way the Mets hitters were chattering between themselves walking up to the plate. Not many pitches missed that inning.

Boone is gong to get blasted for pinch hitting Gallo there and rightfully so. Showalter was ready for him.
Over 40% of his at bats are strike outs. There was a time when the Yanks would clean up
and change a good part of the team at the All Star break.
Also I enjoyed the Judge home run immensely.
but the best home run hitter is batting 2nd what a joke. The Yanks need him at 3 or 4.
Cashman needs to get players that can get on base before him. And after the first inning
we have the 8th and 9th batters in front of him.
The Yanks are trying to change the way baseball is played, what we need is to change
management.

Fot the 1,000th time...why is Gallo playing?

I am starting to think you go get Benintendi and accept he can't play in Toronto and work around that. Or look at the Diamondbacks or Reds and find an outfielder. Hell...go after Happ from the Cubs.

Hallo and Hicks shouldn't be playing.

It makes you wonder how mediocre the Yankees minor league outfielders must be.

Benintendi would be a better fit for the Yanks than most teams as the Yankees don't need the HR guy, they need a guy that will be on base every time you look up.
Tha vaccine is a big issue though. No way to bring him in and have a big playoff series against Tor and not have him available for the games played there.

Anyone know the betting line on the big Scherzer vs. German matchup tonight ?
I can't see much reason for optimism for this one.

Your optimism is that the Met's have a real issue closing out sweeping series. And we can't hit. lol

Interesting….
Tipping your pitches is an incredibly overlooked occurrence.
There’s NOTHING like knowing what’s coming.
Some teams are experts at it, and coaches with a reputation of being good good at finding “tells” will never be out of work.
Sometimes it’s only from the stretch, and sometimes it’s only one pitch but anything helps

This team really looks like crap the last month or less.

I really, really wish Showalter was manager for the NYY.

While I understand the meat of the Mets order was due up the 8th inning, I still don't bring in Holmes to pitch the eighth inning on the road, Especially when he can only go one inning leaving you Peralta to pitch the ninth.
