Looks bad on TV.
Upper deck closed and mezzanine barely anybody.
Can't blame PITT as they sold their 7500 ticket allocation.
Northwestern probably not so much.
Obviously no local interest in this Bowl.

Unlike the Holiday Bowl in San Diego last night.
Although Minnesota only sold 2400 tickets for the Holiday Bowl but there were 40,000 fans in the Stadium.
Lots of local interest.

Hit or miss with that bowl with regard to match-ups. The weekday afternoon start time probably didn't help either.

Hmmm...

San Diego vs. the Bronx in December. I wounder who wins that one?

But we're good because everybody loves Maryland in the Boogie Down!

This is a one and done for most Bowl fans.
And with no local interest they will never draw more than 30,000 +/- fans unless ND or RU is playing.

FWIW The turf continues to be an issue at Yankee Stadium. Numerous injuries in the 1st Half with both teams.

for one NYC IS NOT college football town...it does not embrace college football like it does basketball...see packed MSG and Barclays for conference tournaments.

secondly its not in NYC..its in freakin Bronx, no one wants to travel from Manhattan to Yankee Stadium on relatively cold day

the matchups are low level teams from their conference..this isnt Big 10 4 vs ACC 3

lol the "#1" hater of The Pinstripe Bowl strikes again! I know you are a Yankee fan, who hates all things the "orginazation" does re: ticket prices, et al, but your hatred for this game is silly:

- you (and a few others) claimed the game would never last more than 2 or 3 years. Swore up-and-down this would be the case. Wrong.

- this game has been a SUCCESS, period, like it or not. Not a great one, however, a success nonetheless

- Indiana and Duke proved, last year, that the OP is wrong re: "local interest."

- this game, even if there are 25K in the building, will have 10-15000 more fans than about 5 or 6 of the games already played this year and 5-10K more than a couple of others. There have been 1 or 2 games with, literally, less than 5-6K in the building on game day this year.

- "Unless RU or ND are playing?? Really? Pretty sure both 'Cuse, twice, and PSU (49K athat game) prove you wrong yet again.

- there were a TON of more Gopher fans, at The Holiday Bowl, than 2400. Did you even watch the game?

Anyway, bottom line, this game is going to be around for a while, like it or not.

First you were right in line making fun of the Cuse turnout at the Pinstripe Bowl a few years ago.
Now that the Pinstripe Bowl is a B1G Bowl tie--in you have changed your tune. LMAO.
And do yourself a favor, read yesterday Minneapolis Star Tribune. They only sold 2400 tickets and the locals did not travel. You saw the Crowd in San Diego that were local fans. Not Minny. That Bowl has real local appeal.

this year the way the bowls worked out on the calendar hurt the Pinstripe.

I think it was on a Saturday a couple of times in the past. Having on a Wednesday at 2pm hurts. Unless the Pitt and NW alums are in the NYC area and can take off today they won't be at the game. If it was on a Saturday you would have a lot of alums coming from the whole Northeast corridor and driving from Western PA.

Some of you here are just delusional

I don't CARE how many tickets they sold from their "allotment." They easily had 7-10K in the stands IF you watched the game and it's a game that has ALWAYS gotten GREAT support from the 2 schools playing so, well, you're wrong again. It's freakin' San Diego for crying out loud we'd take 15K there without question. Maybe more. I've said it time-and-time again: B1G schools, for the most part, have HUGE alumni bases in Southern California. Do you think that 70,000 fans make the trek from Wisconsin? No, not at all, a good % are alumni and their families who live in Cali.

Did I make fun of 'Cuse, sure, but that's because their fans were claiming they were going to sell the place out.

Bottom line: 25K plus for a game in The Bronx, Christmas week, pitting lower-tier teams from the ACC and B1G, is nothing to whine about, bitch about, or rip on, IMHO, when there are games in much better locations, with better weather, drawing a lot less. That's all.

Northwestern should be way up. What just happened? I saw Pitt reel off a run to the NW 10, stepped outside now NW has the ball and the score hasn't changed

Pitt scored a TD following that run. NW just scored a TD.

More people there than at the cactus bowl I went to last night. Might have been 50 Baylor fans

Fine. Let it be a bowl game.

But a destination for a HOME conference game. Awful.

Or the the whole frame.
.

No.
Despite Nuts and Abro's delusional support for this pathetic Bowl location it should never be a Bowl.
Horrible venue for Fans and Players alike. Look how many players went down with injuries already.( knees , ankles, etc).
This location does not embody the spirt of awarding teams a special Bowl venue.
Football Stadium . No
Tailgating environment. No
Warm weather locale. No
Good views of the field . No
Ticket Price Gouging . Yes sir.
Dangerous field . Yes sir.

Nuts and Abro nothing personal. Just having fun.
And Nuts you know I have Yankee season tickets.

Once again, you are 100 percent wrong. I hate this bowl, went to it begrudgingly only to support Rutgers. The tailgating was fun on the deck of the 161st garage. Hated the viewing lines , hated the turf. Hate any football game in a baseball stadium.
BUT, you can't argue that this 2d level bowl game is a success attendance wise, and is not going away. When Mich or Mich St or Wisc or Illinois get their turn here they will bring many , many fans.

I know you hate this Bowl....Iike I said just messy with you.
How can you call this a success when they close 10,000 seats in their Upper Deck to the public ?????
A success vs. the Quick Lane or Independence Bowl yes ? Not when going against the Bowls tonight, tomorrow, etc. Not so sure you will see this Bowl in 10 years.

BTW I was in Las Vegas during their Bowl Game and they were laughing down there about the attendance this year.

I know the real action is the over/under on attendance, but in the meantime, this is a hell of a football game! Another one of those 6-6 teams playing their hearts out.

On other fronts, feeling bad for Connor, who is the poster boy for sticking with your team and playing the game instead of going for the bucks.

I was really drunk at our last pinstripe bowl game and can't remember the crowd but I do remember a lot of scarlet. Anyone have pics?

Go with the Under.
It will pay handsomely.

No need to open the upper tier unless needed which has been the case, IIRC, all but this year and last. Still a good crowd, nonetheless, today.

In this pic taken in the first half, you can see the upper deck open and many seated, and Mezz and lower deck crowded

Exactly.
There is only needed when RU, ND, or State Penn is playing.
And if Nebraska or Michigan has a down year and is playing.

I think State Penn played BC last year there so the Upper Deck was full.

Pinstripe Bowl is a pip almost every year. I try not to miss it (unlike the other 83 bowls)
