LOL. We average 90,000+ and you average somewhere around 36,000 iirc. You really want to talk attendance? BTW, think you can sell out Penn Hills HS for a spring game?

LOL!!!!!

Penn State with it's 24 Branch Campuses has a total Student Body of 90,000.

Pitt has a total student body of 35,000.

Penn State has about 250% more alums/students than Pitt.

Pitt getting 50,000 in attendance is on par to Penn State getting 90,000.

Pitt averaged 50,000 last year (ref Phil Steele 2016)

LOL!!!

I'll ask you a question.

With all those alums why is Penn State's Endowment not substantially higher than Pitt's $3.6 Billion.

Penn State alums should contribute more.

LOL!!!!

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

How did this become a PSU/Pitt pissing match?

Don't know other than an open, frank discussion would never be tolerated on BWI as we all know. I wonder if that's partly responsible for so many PSU folks. They can say anything within reason here. Even say something not so glowing about their team and not get banned. I don't know about the Pitt sites but they're always lurking close by.

I enjoy polite back and forth with visitors. Never know when you'll learn something.

Still wondering how PSU makes up for the 26 sacks and 45 TFL's they lost with graduation. I figure improvement on the other side of the ball could negate it. I guess we'll see in a few weeks.

Might as well be one since Penn St, not Rutgers, is the subject the OP started this thread
for.
I won't ( can't) complain since I posted in this thread more than once talking about
Penn St.

You act like PITT doesn't have branch campuses. Did they do away with Bradford, Johnstown, Titusville and that other one?

Congrats on the large endowment. No idea why it is larger TBH. Maybe PITT hordes all their money.

PITT's free site is almost as bad as Penn State's. True story that you will appreciate. I actually got banned on the PITT free site for something I posted on your free site. Yeah, I know that is hard to believe but its true. One of the PITT posters came here, saw a comment I made about PITT and then took it back to the PITT free board and posted it and asked for Peak to ban me as a result. Sure enough, banned. To boot, the culprit is one of the worst posters I've encountered. Actually didn't surprise me as I'm sure he is the type of guy who frequently hits the report button. Nothing more pathetic IMO.

I don't care who has what I just wish you'd do a former or current conference mate a solid and lend RU a couple Big Time donors.

I specifically said a few wins would change perception but right now perception is:
PSU > RU == RU > SU

This is fair. Although over the past 15 years Syracuse fell from being a strong regional power (albeit always second fiddle to PSU) to being mediocre at best and we went from being complete dogs#it with 1-AA funding/facilities/leadership to an above average mid-major level program in the the watered down big east. However, the infrastructure, support and most importantly leadership is now in place at RU and with the backdrop of a major conference. It's time we try and become consistently competitive in a major conference while I see Cuse languishing in obscurity as a northern school in a southern based basketball conference.

We went 8-5 in our first go round in the Big Ten with a coaching staff you'd find at Delaware, Columbia, Wagner or Maine (excluding Ralph Friedgen who IMO made all the difference 2-years ago even though he is way past his prime and in questionable health). I think the next 4-5 years will really be interesting for us with a young, energetic and capable staff. I think Ash does not possess the cache Schiano did...Schiano made himself out to be a big deal even before he started turning the program around...but I think Ash is a better X's and O's guy who is more ready for his shot than GS was when he got his. What I like already is that Ash assembled a quality staff and seems like he will let the OC coach without much meddling which is something Schiano never could do. Even though Cuse fans think Ash is a "Big Ten meathead".

I'm actually surprised that you don't have bigger donors. You seem to have a very passionate fanbase who loves their program. You sell out your stadium and this board is always active with tons of different posters. I don't get it. Rutgers is obviously a very good academic institution with a lot of people who end up on Wall Street and or doing well for themselves in other endeavors. How come you can't get your big $ alum to get behind your athletics?

Not to rub it in, but Terry Pegula ponied up over $100M for a freakin' hockey arena. HOCKEY.

BTW, I think the sport you are going to become a major player in is Wrestling. Just too much talent around you not to.

I'm not an alum I don't know.

Yes I do believe Narduzzi will be at Pitt for the Long Term.

Why?

Because Pitt has a New Chancellor who is committed to improving the Football Program.

Pitt has a new AD who is committed to improving the Football Program.

Previously, Pitt as a member of the Big East Conference was handicapped (Rutgers fans will concur) by the lack of money ($$$$$$$).

That problem ($$$$$$$) has been corrected by ACC membership.

Penn State does not have a rival. What defines a rival. I think a rival is a team you can't stand to lose to.

I think Penn State fans will be really bugged if they lose to Pitt.

Be sure to tune in 9/10/16, for Narduzzi versus Franklin.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!
Money is still an issue. The ACC is still behind the other conference and Pitt still at the bottom in revenue for power 5 schools. The additional money won't even cover the $13 million deficit Pitt runs every year. All this talk about new president and AD yet Pitt finished dead last this year in all sports. Pitt had plenty of presidents and ad yet coaches leave. Pitt is small time program and coaches will continue to use it as a resume booster.

Hey Pitt doesn't need as much money as Penn State because Pitt only supports 19 NCAA Division 1 Teams whereas Penn State supports 31 NCAA Division 1 teams.
Additionally, Pitt does not have to pay for any settlement costs.

Penn State fans are just afraid of a reemerging Pitt football program.

CBS Sports just listed their Best Division 1 College football team in each state.

Rutgers was listed for New Jersey and Pitt was listed for Pennsylvania.

Enjoy the game this year.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Property taxes. My friend is buying a $1.8 million home and he won't give to Rutgers now because of it.

Highest cost of living in the country.

Mine's the complete opposite. You can get a 3,000 sf house on an acre in one of the T10 school districts in the state for ~$400,000. To you, that sounds like nothing. To people here, $400,000 is a lot. Your RE taxes for said house would be less than $7,000 per. Again, that's probably a steal for most on here but that is a ton for people here.

EDIT: Where I grew up in very, very rural PA, a nice house costs no more than $150,000 (and that's a real stretch). An over the top house would be more like $250,000 and you are either buying brand new, on a few acres or 4,000+ sf. Either way, RE taxes are less than $3,000/yr. No bad areas in a really, really rural town.

We also have a lot of donors who only give to academics. To be honest, that always irritated me. Rutgers is one of the most expensive state institutions as it is. Plus, the better you are football and basketball the more applicant you'll get and the more notoriety you'll get. It's true, kids want to go to a school big time athletics.

Predictions rolling in on a daily basis now. These are from Fox's Stewart Mandel:

Ohio State 10-2 (8-1)
Michigan 10-2 (7-2)
Michigan State 8-4 (6-3)
Penn State 8-4 (6-3)
Maryland 6-6 (3-6)
Indiana 5-7 (2-7)
Rutgers 4-8 (2-7)
