Like many sports (i.e. hockey), Rutgers has club teams for many of the olympic sports. Club softball has teams fielded by most major FBS schools, 132 in total. Our softball team won their conference tournament last weekend, beating #1 seed and top-5 ranked Penn State in the first round 7-2, and going on to beat Delaware 13-0 in the championship. They are now the #9 seed in the club World Series (final 16 teams of 132) in Georgia, and will be in the 1-8-9-16 bracket with #1 overall ASU, San Diego State, and Central Michigan. Just thought that the hard work and success of any RU sport should be recognized (and especially a win over PSU!)

Lets really highlight the last point.... (and especially a win over PSU!).

Great accomplishment by this team as club teams get essentially no university support outside fields to participate on.

Yes other than a small stipend I believe to help with travel expenses they don't receive much from the recreation department. However, the D1 softball team actually donated to them this year a full uniform, jerseys and equipment things including very nice new Rutgers helmets, to show their support, which is really neat.
