Tonight RU Baseball vs U Miami, ESPN 3 , 7pm

Is Carmen Sclafani on the BB team the son of Carmen Sclafani of RU Football kicking fame? Also didn't realize Glen Gardner was on the staff. Nice.

RU's John Jennings goes YARD, and pulls a dinger over the left field wall to tie it 1-1, top 3.

RU CF Mike Carter leaves the field midway thru bottom of 3rd, seems like he tweeked a muscle running the bases.

Replacing Carter: Juwann Harris ! yes , that Harris !

This is probably a dumb question but how the hell could the Rutgers team possibly be ready to play?

Anyway, looking forward to watching it .

Bottom 4th, Miami leads 2-1. Juwann Harris makes the routine catch to end the 4th.

to the above poster, RU plays and practice all summer , fall and winter to prepare, just not in league games.

Going into top of 7, now 3-1 Miami, Juwann Harris to lead off the 7th

[pfftt]:clap:Also why do you think Rutgers and other teams head south or west to warmwe weather areas....maybe, just maybe to get ready for the "regular" season and conference games. Plus most schools do practice indoors where they can. Rutgers will soon have a very nice indoor baseball area.

RU drops a 4-1 game. Game 2 of the 3 game series tomorrow. RU now 12-57 against Miami and all games have been played AT Miami. hey, who's our scheduler ? lol.

I played in college (not RU, but in the Northeast) and it was always great heading to Florida for spring break to play. One year the first time we touched grass was at practice the day before our first game. We usually played Tampa our first game of the season and they would have played like 22 games already.
Every day for about a month prior we were in the field house hitting in the cage, throwing off mounds, and doing fielding drills. Fielding drills were the best because our field house had rubber multi purpose courts. Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of taking ground balls on a rubber court knows what I'm talking about....

We used to practice in doors at Brookdale CC on a rubber basketball floor, and the baseball flies at you. Better have quick hands or a good dentist, lol.

And you NEVER forgot your cup... (and this ain't no Dixie cup... and you certainly don't want to be drinking out of it.)

it is ridiculous that NCAA baseball has real games efore MLB even starts spring training. 2/3 of the country is too cold to even practice outdoors. If anything they hould have 2 weeks of practice games in Feb before the season starts.

On a side note I saw St Peters Prep lacrosse practicing outside yesterday when I was in JC. How does lacrosse have outdoor games in Feb in northern cities when the players where shorts?

Yes, Carmen is the son of the RU kicker. This Carmen was an outstanding QB for Brick HS, but decided to play D-1 baseball.
