Semi-Finals:

133: Giraldo vs. #6 Alber (NIU)

197: Hrymack vs. #14 White (Nebraska)

There is already lots of info here on these matchups, so I won't duplicate that here.

Consos. (Each guy needs 1 win to guarantee top 8 finish)

125: #6 McCabe vs. #8 Calkins (Oregon St.) - Calkins got pinned by Gilman of Iowa in the qtrs. This will be a very tough matchup for Sean. Calkins is a redshirt freshman. Sean lost to their starter when we faced Or. St. earlier this year.

141: #3 Ash vs. #NR Sabatello (Purdue) - Sabatello beat Abidin in the pre-qtr and lost to #2 Long in the qtr. He has never wrestled Ash before. Sabatello is good, but Ash should win this. If Ash wins he will likely face #1 Mecate.

149: #14 Dippery vs. #5 Clagon (Rider) - Clagon lost to #4 Sueflohn from Nebraska on the way into the semifinal. Clagon is ranked 14 by Intermat. Very tough matchup for Dippery.

#8 Theo vs. #15 Thomsen - Thomsen lost a close match to Tsirtsis 4-3. Tsirtsis is in the semi, and will likely go to the final against Sorenson. They have no common opponents and have never wrestled each other.

Dippery and Theo are in the same bracket, so the winners of these two matches will face each other.

157: #8 Lewis vs. #7 Cooper Jr. (Iowa) - Cooper lost to #2 Gantt on the way into the semis. This is going to be a great rematch. Lewis lost a very close one to Cooper in the dual at Iowa earlier this year 4-6. I expect a win here. Intermat has Cooper 16 and Lewis 17.

165: #1 Perrotti vs. #2 Austin Wilson (Nebraska) - Hell of a match to get into Top 8. Wilson was upset by Wightman from American who is now in the semis. Perrotti beat Wilson 9-4 at the Nebraska dual this year. Intermat has Perrotti 10 and Wilson 11. If he gets past Wilson, likely to face Rhoads of Iowa. Perrotti beat Rhoads in our dual earlier this year 8-7, so great chance to get to at least top 5.

174: #9 Backuckas vs. #NR Skatzka (Indiana) - I've got nothing on Skatzka - he is a true freshman. If Back wins, likely opponent is #5 Weatherspoon of ISU who would be a solid favorite in that match.

184: #8 Gravina vs. #2 DeChow (ODU) - WIN by MFF. Gravina guaranteed to finish top 8. Will wrestle #NR Griego of Oregon St. or #6 Grenda of UNC. Gravina beat Griego 6-2 this year.

285: #5 Smith vs. Q. Smith (ISU) - Q. Smith got pinned by Larson of OU in the pre-qtr. Billy pinned Q. Smith last year and should win this matchup. If he wins, he would likely face Jensen of Nebraska - Billy has beaten him 3 times this year, and I am sure we all remember the last one.

These new stalling rules are really affecting outcomes of matches....really is a shame cuz most instances aren't even stalling in even the most technical sense of the word!!

Mccabe needed to cut the kid. Held on for too long and the ref called the stall. I really thought that was the first stall called on Mccabe for the match but it gave the other guy a point?? Coulda sworn match was going to be 4-4 then last second it got switched to 5-4 with riding time.

Great post and research Cabbage

Wouldnt have been possible without Wrestlestat!

That was such a BS stalling call. Thought McCabe had it. He should have cut the kid once he had riding time. It wouldve been tied with a great chance to win it.

Ashnault wins 10-0 over Sabatallo of Purdue

149: Tyson Dippery (#RUWR) falls to Bryant Clagon (Rider), 6-4. Dippery is eliminated.

Perrotti had to take an injury TO in the 3rd period of his last match yesterday. Looked like his knee was bothering him.

Did the Indiana kid even try any offensive moves in 2nd? Sunk legs in there and stayed

Phil has looked a lot more offensive lately. U can tell he's been working on top and his tilts.

Quean Smith = Beefcake!!!! Beefcake!!!

Smith should push action and try to get stalling..this guy doesnt look like he will shoot.

Was just able to logon in time for Billy's match. Nice pin!
Great write-up Ole C. Really appreciate you taking the time to post

#RUWR grapplers alive after the blood round: Ashnault (141), Theobold (149), Lewis (157), Bakuckas (174), Gravina (184), Smith (HWT).

Do the pins count from the Wilkes tourney? There seemed to be a bunch in that tournament by RU wrestlers.

141: Anthony Ashnault (#RUWR) reverses Chris Mecate (ODU) in the final minute to win, 4-3! Next up: Metthew Kolodzik (Princeton kid who beat him yesterday, he lost by a point at the buzzer a few minutes ago).
