Need Diaz or Familia to wake up or this joy won’t last
How about taking a flyer on Matt Harvey as a bullpen arm? His ego has to be substantially reduced at this point and I see little downside in signing him to a minor league deal and let him work in Syracuse out of the pen for a couple weeks and see what he does. If he is successful as a set up or closer than bring him up before the end of August. He may not want to do it but might be worth a phone call.
I was really surprised to see Washington opt to intentionally walk Alonso with 2nd and 3rd and one out the way they did. But with the night he was having I was also glad to see them do so in front of Davis.
I was thinking the same thing about the core guys not sure what to do with Cano if or when he comes back if he plays second of them them move either to the outfield or 3rd base.

I thought that was more on DeGrom. Did Pete rush it? Yes, but it was right at the bag.

Pete throws from knees at the bag a little in front and a smidge higher then he wanted.
My point was that the ball passed the bag and Cabrera was only half way down the line.
Jake and Pete both had time
3 unearned runs scored because jake bounced throw to home plate , Ramos couldn’t scoop it , runner was going to be out by 15 feet.

What does Diaz has to do to lose his "closer/ 9th inning" role? Big reason why the Mets cant get over the WC hump instead of battling for first place.

Mets need to demote or put Diaz on injured list. He’s too much of a liability and a karma rally killer. It’s too much for any team to keep dealing with.
He already lost it. Lugo is the closer for now, but he pitched two innings yesterday.

I did say Mets had to go 6-2 vs Nats and Braves this week (and at least 6-2 vs Cubs and Braves in 2 weeks) to keep up with the WC leaders, still have a chance for first, and prove that they can compete vs the beat in the NL. Ill take the series win over Nats but today was the story of the Mets season that they still have time to fix... hopefully.
