Gosh. Could Frazier have taken any wider a turn coming around third? Cut that corner better and there's a good chance you're safe. But who figured Lagares as the one hitter who would show up tonight.

Scoreboard watching. And everybody else won or is winning tonight with the exception of Milwaukee. And now we have to count on a quality start from Matz. On the road. In a big spot. Update. Scratch that.......Milwaukee just took a 5-4 lead late. Ugh.

Welp. McNeil’s finished. Finito
. Hamstring being evaluated. Fingers crossed. Only positives from tonight was lagares with 4 hits and the bullpen with both very critically important if we have any chance to somehow make a wild card. We somehow need to have 3-3 road trip.

All streaks end, and all streaking teams come back to earth. Ask the 2007 Colorado Rockies. So when the Mets come back to earth, which may already be happening, will they be the same or better than the team we saw for the first 102 games of the season.

If McNeil is out for an extended period of time you pretty much have to put a fork in us.

One loss to the second best team in the NL, and some fans are on the ledge? And disagree on losing McNeil. McNeil has not exactly been setting the world on fire post All-Star break. No, that does not mean the Mets don't need him. Losing him will hurt for sure, but does not necessarily mean the Mets are done.

He's been our best hitter this year barely over Alonso. We do not have enough offense on this squad to lose such a significant player and expect to play the same as we have on this hot streak. And he has been setting the world on fire since the All Star break he actually has a better OPS and wrc+ since then because of the power surge. The downgrade from McNeil to Tejada is huge.

How about waiting for the MRI results before crying its over?
Sorry, but can't stand this type of mindset that permeates Mets and RU football fans, which, incidentally are a perfect pairing given their histories.

Hopefully, the injury is minor. I expected to get swept in Atlanta with or without him, so I’m already 3 days into his IL stint.

4 hits from Lagares is a negative. We lost anyway..and now Callaway probably thinks he should play more again. He sucks. With McNeil out though, we are stuck with him anyway.

No one is crying. I made a comment stating we're going to be in a world of hurt without him and we will be. As for the mind set the teams we support hardly ever give us anything to root for and make almost everything difficult on us and yet here we are still loyal to a fault so questioning that is a bunch of malarkey.

LOL, OK and we have Mr. Magoo above calling a 4 hit game by Lagares a negative. It is this kind of mindset that I can never agree with--everything seems to be a negative for some people.

Tejada, 29, is hitting .337/.412/.486 with six homers in 73 games this season.

He last played in the majors in 2017 and last played in the majors for the Mets in 2015.

Obviously losing McNeil hurts in terms of loss of quality, but also of versatility. Mets now have four outfielders, two of whom (Altherr and Lagares) are essentially the same player. At least one of them will be in there every day. I don't think anyone else on the roster has any OF experience at all.

Mets should add R. Davis and drop a bullpen arm IMO.

McNeil to the IL with a mild hamstring strain. No timetable given that I've seen yet.

Per Anthony DiComo on mets.com, he is expected to return after 10 days, which is the minimum for an IL designation.

In other words, the news is as good as realistically could have been hoped for.

Also per DiComo Nimmo is inching towards rehab games which could begin within the next 10 days.

Any word on Lowrie? As much as I hated the signing we could use him now. My memories of Tejada do not inspire a lot of confidence in his ability to hit.

Some tidbits from BVW just now:

Tidbits from Brodie Van Wagenen:

—It’s a “very low grade” strain for McNeil’s left hamstring

—Lowrie has started facing live pitching and seems to be over the hump

—Nimmo could start a rehab assignment within a couple of days

—Hechavarria is on release waivers

Forget about Lowrie for 2019. Hopefully he graces us with his presence in 2020.

When you think of it, the lineup (at least as envisioned at the start of the year) is pretty much decimated. Cano, Nimmo, Smith, Lowrie, and now McNeil all out. You can add Cespedes to that list, as he was expected to be back by now.

Not many teams can withstand a hit like that.

Silver lining is that we have three at an AL city (KC) so the bench doesn't matter that much. Add in an off day on Monday, and 40% of McNeil's absence is covered.

That doesn’t make sense...you can’t take your best player out and think you are ok because you get to add another offensive player. It is still - best player

Lugo in the seventh. Interesting. Looks like Diaz will close if it gets that far.
That's what I was wondering too. Problem is that Gsellman in this spot would have been a problem in the making. Familia has looked real sharp his last couple of times out. But Lugo not looking good so far. You never come out and walk the leadoff batter. That's just asking for trouble.
