And every other BVW client that needs a job next season. Those guys need to start somewhere on the Mets as well.
While I am sure that BVW inexperience played into him signing guys he knew(security blanket) it shouldn’t or better not carry into next year.
I look at it different then those of you that like to regergatate this over and over.
Signing his ex clients does nothing for him right now so signing them has nothing to do with rewarding them unfairly or himself. The real concern if it continues is that he is not growing into his position...

Don't forget about Cespedes and his bloated contract. I'm sure they're going to give him every chance to win a job next year.
At least with Cespedes, if healthy, his bat is lethal.
That would be where we eat the Cano $$$ as a very expensive pinch hitter and put both Davis and McNeil into the infield or live with Conforto as our CF

Then we have no room for Nimmo. I know he was bad this year early but last year he was great.

And if Cespedes has a miracle cure, he would be playing for a new contract. If hes able to play, I would see if he would have a good season, then wave bye bye.

I noticed that today Lugo pitched the 9th as well as the 8th. How often do the Mets do this? I wonder if it was just because Lugo had really good stuff today, including that nasty curveball. BTW, let me remind everyone that tomorrow's game has a 7:05 start -- and the Phillies are scheduled to play at about 2 in Cincy on Labor Day.

Vargas has generally been better for the Phillies than today. I do not understand how a pitcher can survive these days with two speeds : slow and slower. A pitcher who wants to throw a lot of change-ups needs to be able to mix in a 90-plus fastball once in a while to keep the hitters off-balance.

Lugo does that fairly regularly.

Don't miss Vargas. He has had a good year this year, but have no problem with Mets getting rid of him.

Lugo has a partially torn UCL, which mitigates against him pitching on consecutive days. Therefore they are more inclined to use him for multiple innings.

You do realize, don't you, that you and @Kbee3 have now confessed to being part of the three stooges? I don't think that's very bright of you two. Will the third stooge reveal himself, or does he have more sense than you guys??
Lmao, yes, they've shown themselves to be the fools we all know they are.Correction though, they are the 3 Amigos, but I guess the 3 Stooges works as well.

Cubs lost today so we made a game back up! If we beat Phils again tomorrow we jump them and then could be directly behind Cubs.

Was at Brooklyn cyclones game tonight. Cano looked good. 2 hits. Looked good on field. Ran well. He should be with mets shortly.
Also was very impressed with Brett baty. He will be a solid player. Actually I think a star. Allan has nice velocity on his ball. Magnum has speed. Didn’t realize all the draft picks play in Brooklyn. Edgardo Alfonzo is manager. Endy Chavez a coach

Respectfully disagree. They got zilch for him. That being said, should have kept him as long relief guy or emergency starter. He could have eaten innings to save bullpen and thus avoid dogs like flexen and Mazza having to be on team

Baty and Allan just got called up to Brooklyn. They were on different teams earlier.

Thanks. Didn’t know they were playing for cyclones until we got to game. Baty has star potential all over him. Allan throws hard.

Sooo- Vargas looks like someone that may have success in relief? I don’t see it. His game is more for the long haul but setting up guys not only in that at bat but for their next time up as well. Also, He really has no out pitch

We got a steal with Allan. Still can't believe we got him for that much less than everyone thought he wanted.

They got a 195 aa catcher who is friends with Jeff Wilpons son. Is that more valuable than what Vargas could have provided out of the bullpen? Trade was a salary dump and punishment for Vargas involvement with the reporter.

The worst aspect of the Vargas trade is that it was made while they were still actively trying to trade Wheeler. Had they been successful in doing so, Vargas would have really been missed. But since Wheeler is still here, Vargas' absence is less critical.

The idea that the GM should be learning on the job is ridiculous, but the Wilpons hired a guy with no experience. Even if he had experience, what are the odds that he’d be good at it—slim. The Wilpons should just do a reset, admit that they made a big mistake and go get a real GM. But there’s no chance of that.

Yes, but remember the Mets are currently tied with Arizona and Milwaukee. Before the Mets can pass the Cubs, they have to establish themselves as the #2 in the race for the second wild card.

After the game, Cano said that he will take tomorrow off, play for Brooklyn on Monday, and then expects to join the Mets in Washington on Tuesday.

All minor league seasons end on Monday. That means all rehab assignments end on Monday - UNLESS the minor league teams make the playoffs. I believe both Syracuse and Brooklyn are in playoff contention, but I don't think either team has clinched.

EDIT: I would add that if the Mets are looking for a place for an injured player to rehab after Monday, it won't be St. Lucie. The Florida State League has cancelled its playoffs in anticipation of the hurricane.

You know- watching the Met's/Phils games, I realized that we actually have a much better team from top to bottom then they do even with the money they spent.
1B) Alonso> Hoskins
OF) Harper > slightly Conforto
SS) Rosario> Segura
C) Realmuto>Ramos but only because of fielding
OF) McNeil > Dickerson
OF) Davis> Kingery
2B) Hernandez> Cano
3B) Frazier> whoever they have there

Met's 5-3

SP- Not even close from 1-5
BP both suck but ours has gotten better
C - Both suck

Is Baty up at Brroklyn already? I think he started off in rookie ball.

Correct and, you know, as usual, stupid.

Just finish ahead of the Phillies. That's enough.
As much as I hate Philly, that's the problem. As lone as the Wilps sees that this is what their fans want, they will keep going on the cheap with the managers and GMs, who will keep making the I'll decisions that a Maddon, a Girardi, or a Chaim Bloom will make.
