They will never turn the corner...

Get over the hump...

Jump the shark...

I had no problem with it. Took two perfect throws and a bad slide to get him.
Took the words out of my mouth. Sending Nido was actually a very good and gutsy call. Dude beat the throw and would have been safe if only his foot bas downs as it had already crossed most of the plate when he was tagged but it was above the plate.
I would 100% take the aggressive play over not trying to win.

God I hope not. I remember the days of Dave Kingman.
Actually, I remember them quite fondly in a very strange way.lol
I mean, come on...John Stearns(one of my favorite players) Harrelson(as a kid, my favorite player. I always wore number 3 in every sport I played) Milner, Milan, Garrett, Del Unser, Mazzili Don Hahn, and of course Seaver/Koosman/Matlack and one of my favs back then, Swan...

Slashed .304/.394/.558 with the West Virginia Power. Doesn't turn 20 years old until July. #Mariners’

OK we are now at 54 games, exactly at the one-third mark of the season. 27-27. The very definition of meh. Not good enough to be in contention now, but certainly good enough to GET into contention.

The meh team stats support the meh record. Here are the key team batting stats in the 15 team NL:

10th in runs scored.
9th (tie) in HR
10th in BA
9th in OPS

Offensively at least, the Mets are who we thought they were. Just not that good. Meet the Mehs.

Pitching is the same story, yet very different:

10th in ERA (Starters 11th, Relievers 11th)
9th in Quality Starts
12th in BAA (Starters 11th, Relievers 11th)
11th in WHIP (Starters 9th, Relievers 10th)

Herein lies the problem. THE METS PITCHING MUST BE BETTER IF THE METS ARE TO CONTEND. It's not Frazier, it's not Cano, it's not Callaway. It's five guys: deGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler, Familia, and the forgotten man Justin Wilson. Those five guys must be who we believe them to be.

‘Jarred Kelenic is getting closer to Seattle. Talked to one scout who has watched the 19-year-old center fielder closely and he called Kelenic a "once-in-a-decade prospect."’

Going to be sick...

Why they let him go and kept Altherr is another head scratcher.

Nice W
That's an easy one to answer. They DFA'd Rajai because they correctly surmised he'd clear waivers and they could bring him back. Whereas the 28 year old Altherr was far more likely to be claimed.

And the player he was traded for closed it out in the majors last night.

Lastings Milledge--that name brings back memories. From his Wiki page:
In four seasons with the Yakult (Tokyo) Swallows through 2015, Milledge played in 255 games, batting .272 with 39 home runs and 129 RBIs. Hampered by injuries in 2014-15, Milledge appeared in only a combined 34 games those years.
On January 24, 2017, Milledge signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He retired from professional baseball following the season.

And we want Altherr why?

Nope. The truth is I don't need to. So again you relax. No one is beyond criticism in my eyes. That's where we're different I guess.
Whatever, dude. But you are freaking out over a rookie of the year candidate. Many of the top players are in the same category- Harper, Aaron Judge, Paul Goldschmidt. Fact is, Alonso is the best player on the roster.
Have a nice day.

And we want Altherr why?
We probably don't. I strongly suspect he'll be DFA'd when Cano returns. If not, then likely when McNeil returns. However, when R. Davis was let go, Callaway did say that they wanted to take a longer look at Altherr. So they're taking it.
