Not at all sold on Smith, who after three years finally decides to get in shape. Lot of his hits have been seeing eye hits.
Frazier plays a decent 3rd base too and has more pop then Smith.

Is Mickey related to Chris Ash?

Lugo's performance in the seventh inning alone was enough to take him out -- not even taking into consideration that he has been sick.

But on a night when Lugo was sick and both Jeurys Familia and Edwin Diaz were unavailable, the Mets needed to try to get another inning out of Vargas.

Callaway needs to do a better job of making sure at least one of his closer-types is available on a given night

Driving up to NYC listening to the FAN Joe and Evan are killing Galloway.

This IS his third year with the Mets. Maybe he (andsome other Mets hitters) is hitting better in 2019 because of Chilli Davis' approach to hitting instead of the old SWING FOR THE FENCES approach? Gee you would think that people would be satisfied so far with those "seeing eye singles" vs the shift i stead of smashing a ball right into the shift.

But im not surprised here tho.

Mickey is a pretty terrible manager but then I didn’t like Collins either...be careful what you wish for.

Sitting Ramos after two games with a day off in between, not pinchrunning for Ramos in the 8th on Saturday in a tie game, sitting McNeil after a 4 hit day. He’s dodging bullets right now but bad decisions will catch up to him in the long haul.

Hopefully the talent will overcome the managerial shortcomings.

So Nido catches tonight. Looks like Nimmo will get the night off. Would like to see Broxton get a start in LF and McNeill at 3B. I hated the way he used the bullpen last night but he does have JFams and Diaz available for a Degrom start. If Jake can give him 7 the other two can bring it home.

I also wonder how much of the bullpen use last night was planned by Calloway or by upstairs analytics. Calloway said after the game that the plan was Vargas for 5, Lugo for 2 and then Wilson. Seemed like the dogmatically followed that plan even though Lugo was in no shape to give them 2.

I think that’s how Mickey operates. It’s all based on a plan regardless of the circumstances. I don’t think there is any thought involved. We should just have a robot manage.

Just found out one of the beats said McNeil has a banged up knee hence the benching. He's available to PH but if true that makes a lot more sense.

Cripes, I hope so or I start to file this asshat along with Ash.
McNeil has to play 150 games this year if healthy. These are the players you pencil in every day. McNeil, Comforto, Cano, Alonso, Rosario and Ramos as much as a catcher can play but minimum 130 games.

Calloway has done a terrible job so far with the bullpen, but I had no problem with him yanking Vargas. Despite giving up only 2 runs, the guy was throwing batting practice. He gave up 8 hits in 5 innings, and it seemed like everyone was a hard-hit double.

Callaway MUST be fired. He is going to cost Mets too many games ....,,,lefty specialist and a one inning pitcher but goes back out for a second inning to face 3 straight righties !!!!
5-1 10-1 ect ect ....just makes too many WTF pitching moves

If there is one area of this team that could sink them it's this bullpen. If deGrom loses the W....there will be no words

Brodie will fire Callaway when the opportunity arises. Every game he does head scratchers.
