OT: 2023 NY Jets Season Thread

I always thought that people who said that there were shady dealings in the NFL were just disgruntled gamblers. But after tonight I think that it was pretty obvious that the story line was supposed to be a Chiefs win and Taylor and Travis disappear into the NYC night to celebrate.
Really aggravating.

On another play during that same drive, KC's LT held Jets' DE Johnson as Mahomes ran downfield to pick up the first down. Johnson turned to pursue Mahomes but couldn't, as the LT wouldn't let him go. The side judge approached the LT and said something but never threw the flag. It seemed like the officials went out of their way to ensure KC didn't lose. Hopefully, Wilson can continue to play like this for the rest of the season. The Jets might have a chance for the playoffs. The defense is legit.
wow, that hold was so obvious i couldn't believe there was no flag.
makes you wonder why no one noticed it,,,,,,,,this is why i stopped gambling.....plus the mahomes kneel down at the goal line.

Well, the official “NFL Chat Room” Twitter account had this message right after the game:

The Chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties!

You don’t think there was any chance they were letting the Chiefs lose and hurt the storyline they are playing to death, do you?

They desperately want Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl probably get her to sing the National anthem. Many Many Swifties would pay thousands for that moment and the eyeballs on the game would be epic.
I'm sure the NFL has a plan

I saw that live and during the replay. Blatant.

she has already turned them down as she is on the other side of the world in the middle of her world tour

Last night's game was a hell of an effort by the Jet's. Looked like it was all over in the 1st Qtr. Maybe we just saw Z Wilson grow up?

The refs were horrible. There were also a ton of obvious holds by their OL- can't remember the actual plays but saw at least 2 very clear ones on their RT.

There was another PI or defensive holding call on one of our DB's where their WR just ran into him and just kept running.

On another hand IP is a total beast out there. Reminds me a lot of Tony Dorsett. Little speedster that also runs with power.

It is kind of a normal thing.

But, on the other hand- 90% of them are just normal people with a gift and act that way.
Super glad not to be that kind of normal…frankly I find quietly brilliant scientists, MDs and researchers far more interesting…sports star? Singers? Actors? Other than entertainment, ehh? I suppose the masses need something to idolize. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also 90% are normal? LOL
Uh Huh Yes GIF

Didn't want you guys to miss this. Misery loves company after all.

Just destroy the stadium and rebuild.

The Jets traveled to Denver 60 years ago this November 17,losing partially due to an intentional safety.
The Broncos led 20-14 at the two minute warning, having the ball at their own 19 on a 4th and 1.
The commentators were stunned as the Broncos came to the line instead of going into punt formation, not even speculating whether they were attempting to draw the Jets offside or not.
Instead,QB Jacky Lee took the snap and ran back into his end zone, killing precious time for the Jets to come back.
Lee ran out of the end zone, making the score 20-16,and leaving the Jets needing to score a TD to win.
The Jets returned the kick to around their own 40,but QB Dick Wood got picked off by HOF'er Willie Brown to end all hope.
5 years later on Nov.17 was the Heidi game.

The Jets can win a lot of games as Wilson masters the offense more. The weapons are in place. Vs the Eagles will be a fun game to watch.

I didn't watch the game but listened on the radio - didn't sound like Zach played that well. Either holding the ball too long or pressing too much to make plays and it almost backfired with fumbles, tipped passes etc.

With the defense keeping them in games and Breece Hall running like he is (I definitely gambled on the wrong rb in fantasy) we'll stay in games but the team needs ZW to be able to carry the team.

If the OL depth is now thinner then that sucks...

Oh and it's great to see NE falter at least.

Zach played OK. Two big mistakes were the interception in the 4th quarter although it did hit Wilson in the hands and not spiking the ball in time before the half (he should have done anything but complete a pass in bounds). Although I blame the not spiking on time partly on the coaches for not just kicking the field goal.

The Int didnt bother me as much it did M Ryan. If ZW through it to the outside shoulder- how did Matt think the WR was going to be able to spin all the way back. Ball hit Wilson in the hands but if anything, maybe the throw should have been just a little lower where Wilson could have slide down for the catch and defender would have had no shot.

Confirmed - AVT torn Achilles. 2nd Jets starter down.

Isn’t Mile High real grass now?

Terrible news on AVT who is their best OL , can play G or T very well. Same place he got hurt last year. ZW played fine yesterday for those who actually watched. He hit a number of big 3rd down throws. He is not AR but there aren’t many of them walking around.

Right and with the OL issues it shows the one place JD didn’t fix is gonna be the one that hurts the most.

I don’t understand how so many Jet fans, given that NY sports fans usually are so cynical and reactive, continue to view Douglas so highly,

His drafting has been very uneven, and his handling of the OL overall (and especially this year) should be a fireable offense if it results in a collapse of the team during what is an easier second half schedule.

The OL he built for this year depended on the premise that at least two of Brown, Becton and Tucker (all of who were coming off of serious medical issues) would be healthy and effective for the entire season.
