OT: Cold/Snowy Pattern Continues for Early April: a few inches on 4/3? More next weekend?

I have to say, this is a royal screw-up as of Day 2. Traffic on both sites is very limited. Most users didn't quickly make the move and I bet a lot are just pissed off on how this all went down. Add on top of this that the new site blows and is very different than what people are familiar with.....that may indicate trouble ahead.

Right now, our online RU community is split and many are just sitting on the sidelines.
Just need to make the best of it, things will shake out. I've been bridging multiple communities for years, having moderated several, so when change occurs it's best to just give it time to sink in for everyone.

The format upgrade that John and his team said is coming soon is going to be very important. If that hits nicely, I think we will be in good shape. But that is what, 2-3 months away? I guess we have split households for a while! :)

no excuse for the state to not presalt in advance...could have nipped some of the road slush in the bud

grassy surfaces have 2.5 inches here in Belle Mead but less than 1/2 on paved and do not think that will increase much as compaction is occurring and snow will lessen in intensity

FWIW, they were pre-salting on 78 at around 3pm yesterday.

big difference from Belle Mead to Hillsborough in accumulations....just a little bit to the north means more snow and road sticking...
Over here, the snow is already rapidly melting.....neighborhood roads are clearing up quickly.

Driving up to Summit this AM from Scotch Plains area was a mixed bag. Some roads good and some untouched. Probably about 5 or 6 inches up here in Summit, definitely messier than at home.

There's a snowplow in the parking area on the Hamptons beach webcam, something you'd never think that you would see in April.

Roads were bad in union county this morning. Looks like a fast melt.

So this is it for the snow this season?

Meh around 3 inches around Belle Mead/HHillsborough/Somerville area on average...half that on pavement and maybe half inch if paved surface was treated

Montclair’s roads were horrendous this morning at 7:30
I’ve got an Audi 4 wheel all road, and could not get up the hill that leads to my home

What's the point of reporting one place as of 7:45am and others at 10am? If enough time has passed without an update, drop it from the list.

Sounds like the Governor forgot to treat state roads before the storm. Tons of accidents on those roads.
You'd think a champion of State Workers would have proudly called in the plow drivers to make holiday OT to salt & brine the roads on Easter Sunday

lets root this puppy to failure tomorrow

Bust, bust, bust!
:)

Epic fail. This event was forecasted nearly perfectly. But I'm sure T will say it was a non-event even though all evidence is to the contrary and I'm sure bac will only focus on how much is on pavement, which isn't what's being forecast - they even postponed the Yankees opener for this non-event, lol.

You just can't help yourself can you? Bac owns this thread and board now, he is our new weather guy!

And FYI, what is on pavement is all that matters.

not very nice of him considering that the majority of posters have not made the flip yet and there is little discussion going on over there. Its not like there is a rush or anything
Seriously? After all the bitching you've made about my weather posts/threads, now you're going to give me shit for not posting here? Wow. I made the move out of loyalty to John, who I've been with for 20+ years (as have you, so I'm surprised you're not making the move) and who is clearly the person most responsible for us having a great Rutgers presence on message boards - maybe loyalty doesn't mean much to you, but it does to me.

And I'm already active on 2 weather boards, Facebook, and emails and I simply don't need to be doing weather posts on 2 separate RU boards - I'm sure you guys can handle it and for the many folks who actually like my weather posts, I hope they come to SN and participate in the weather threads there.

I thought you were not coming back.lol.....since the event thread was already started...yeah that was not very considerate of you for bailing in this thread...it has nothing to do with loyalty to John. If you realize that alot of people have yet to make the move over there and we have so many lurkers who read this board looking for your update. So in the interest of courtesy and providing information to the community yeah I thought it was ridiculous you just stopped updating in here as if you could not do both

and who said I am not making the move, I am just not rushing to go over there if the layout is embarrassing 1997 levels and not conducive to posting. When they get things in order I am sure things will be different but there is no rush right now

He certainly laid the foundation and did a great job but it was guys like you, bac, myself and others in this thread and site that really made this place what it is today.

Agree with you here. But you could have finished out this thread. Folks her were all counting on you, and you left them high and dry.

I don't know either of you guys other than your internet personas, but you both seem like decent people. However, you are coming off just a bit douchey here. That said, bailing in the middle of a thread storm was not great, but he seems to have a lot of irons in the fire or yardsticks in the snow drifts in the back yard.
