OT: Massive swells coming to NJ this weekend

If we have any surfers out there looks like Sunday could be an epic day for surfing in NJ. 10 -13 foot swells @ 12 second intervals is unheard of around here and the water is still a balmy 71 degrees!

Surf was beyond flat last weekend. Went to the beach to do some boogie boarding, and it was like a lake.

Definite possibility that I am really hoping for. It really sucks that there will be a week of solid swell but the winds won't be cooperating. If the wind ends up being more N/NE then Long Island could potentially be fun.

Looking like an onshore mess. I hope that the surfers there get at least one day of it. Would suck to have the swell of the decade with howling onshores the whole time.

In a related note, the surf here has been pretty epic this summer. Water temps are 75-77 degrees in some areas. I have never felt it this warm here. Almost too warm. Almost.

Should be an good winter for us.

I was down last Friday and Saturday and the ocean was as calm as I have seen it in awhile. I figured those were my last swims for the season but maybe not if the temps hit 80 a couple of days this week. I liked the washing machine analogy used above.
