OT - Montreal

Food:
La Banquise - Poutine
Point G - Macarons
Olive + Gourmando - Breakfast
Holder - Dinner
Jean Talon Market - Farmers Market
Schwartz's - Smoked Meat

Things to do:
- Boobs. Everywhere. Women in Montreal are special, and even outside those dark places, they're still done up and looking good. Head up to Laval for some quality without as much of the busy Montreal style. 15 minutes away and sometimes cheaper.
- Bike the F1 Circuit (June 10-12)
- Basillique de Notre Dame
- Walk Old Montreal
- Go Karting is actually better in Montreal than a lot of places I find
- The night clubs are one hell of a time. As well, Montreal girls don't have the attitude behind them like New York and Toronto.

Its hard not to enjoy Montreal in your 20s.

+1

I will add one

Breakfast - L'avenue

Stogies's is a great cigar bar.

McKibbon's on Bishop is an Irish Pub and a favorite. If a bartender named Kevin is working the basement bar buy him a shot from the bottle of vodka he keeps on ice. Best Guiness I've had if you like it.

St. Laurent St is where the locals go as opposed to Crescent or St. Catherine.

Club Downtown is a must.

Love Montreal - have been there about 6 times over the years. While the talent is legendary, I'll throw out a place you might not hear about, but would likely enjoy if you want a break from boobs, bottle service and breaking the bank. Try Les Foufounes Electriques a punk/alt/metal bar/club on St. Catherine. It's gritty, but very cool, and you can gear down and save some money, plus you might catch an interesting band. And you can meet chicks in leather with lots of tats and nose rings...

Don't go to LaVal...he's right it's fun and cheaper but you are going to see Montreal and you don't have enough time to try other places.
The Basillique de ND is really impressive. I actually got married in that church. Even for a bunch of guys it's worth taking 15 minutes to check out. Plus it's in old Montreal surrounded by bars with outside seating so you can people watch. There is a decent craft brewery just a short walk from there and that is also where the crazy parties on the pier are.

I went there over Martin Luther King day weekend in 2012 with my now-ex and two other friends, and we happened to catch Igloo-Fest (for those who haven't heard, think tundra version of the Electric Zoo outdoor music festival in NYC). We happened to go there on the coldest night of the season, when temps dipped to -22 F. While partying we didn't particularly notice, until she took off her gloves when back in the subway and her hands were showing spots of purple/blue..

-30 for my wedding. Easy to see why after a a childhood in Montreal my wife wants to move to Arizona.

There might be enough OT threads but what's one more.

I'm driving up to Montreal this weekend with some friends (mid 20's) and we really haven't done any planning and are going to just play it by year.

We're staying in downtown Montreal - any food/bar/activity recommendations? Also any tips on driving and traveling in general to Canada are welcome.

definitely Ste. Laurent, Ste. Catherine areas to hang on....a ton of bars, ton of food.....it's near McGill University, so the girls are super friendly and easy on the eyes.

This time of year I'd also strongly recommend walking up Mont Royal, there's an awesome park with ballfields, soccer fields, tons of McGill girls lounging on the grass, etc.

Old town down near the river is actually pretty cool, lot of cafes and bars with outdoor seating on big wide cobblestone streets (very Euro feel).

have a blast, Montreal is an awesome city for so many reasons (food, girls, beer, girls)
