OT: New York Mets 2020-2021 Off Season Thread

If Kelenic is as good as advertised this will be one of the worst trades in Mets history. BVW's parting gift to the Mets I guess. Not sure how teams are supposed to build their rosters without knowing if they will need a DH or not. What is the hold up?
I addressed this topic a few posts ago. In short, the Players Association wants to keep it. So, MLB may use it as a bargaining chip in upcoming negotiations. You give us expanded playoffs, we'll give you universal DH.

Back to reality- the PED finding is GREAT for the Met's. It just made things so much clearer. Prior to this happening- 2 things were really screwing us up that this fixes. Cano's money- not that Cohen can't handle 20 mil but that contract forces us to play the guy and he was untradeable and secondarily, he actually proved he can still hit. May have been our 3rd best hitter all year.
But he is also the reason we had to figure out what to do with McNeil, Davis, Smith
Him being out, makes that so much easier. In my world, I now plant McNeil at 2nd and Davis at 3B and just leave that alone. Now, all we have to figure out is what to do about Nimmo and Smith.
Both need to be major league starters. I just don't know who I would prefer. DH would make it so much easier.
But now, if I could get Lindor for let's say Nimmo/Gimeniz or Rosario - I would make that trade today. Throw bags of cash at Springer and Bauer, if I can't get JT then get a guy like McCan behind the plate and sign up for the WS in 2021...

Agree with someone above that we negotiate a buyout with Cano and he never sees a Met's Uniform again
After ARod's suspension, no one thought he'd ever play for the Yankees again. But he did, and was reasonably productive. Goes to show you never can tell.

Actually great news for the Mets. Dont have to worry about this goof anymore.
Mets continue to be a dirty team. Will Cohen clean up this mess or make it worse? Based on his business record, probably the latter.

This is a good post. Cohen was being investigated by the SEC back tot the 80s. His ex wife filed racketeering charges against him.
his firm pled guilty to a felony and was forced to close.
This is a bad guy. About as dirty as they come

Mets fans are so pathetic they are selling their souls to the devil here.

I thought it concerned all the Mets faithful that have been crying about other teams spending top dollar to improve their team and now hypocritically calling for Mets ownership to try to buy a championship.
Spending big bucks to improve your team is only wrong to Mets fans if other teams do so.

Another $24M to spend and we lose Cano. Fantastic news! Time to go shopping and dominate the Hot Stove.
I continue to believe that Cohen will not spend nearly as much this year as most Met fans expect. He just joined the country club and I believe he will be respectful to those who let him in. Remember that he made his fortune identifying and purchasing undervalued assets. Not by following the herd.

We’ll find out. I tend to think he could care less about other teams and owners and will spend what’s necessary to win knowing that it’s a down market this year.

He made his fortune through insider trading

You're right, should have stuck with the Wilpons, who only bought the Mets with blood money from Bernie Madoff.

And you'll cheer them all the way there.
All the while ranking on the Yankees for being "dirty".
I think you need to look up the definition of the word HYPOCRITE.
So your admitting the Yankees have been dirty? Lol, can we start a list of players taught at Spring Steroid Camp in Tampa?

superdouche doesn't understand, Mets fans are thrilled this ex trained Yankee, who comes from a long line of Yankee users is done. I remember how Yankee fans cried when they didn't do everything they could to resign the future HOF player, lmfao. Good luck with that Robbie! Ask Clemons, AROD, Pettitte, Cano, Giambi, Cabrera, Cervelli, Montero, Sheffield, Canseco, Knoblauch, and Steve Howe, just to name a few!😁

Has a decision been made on whether or not the NL will adopt the DH for the coming season? I would think that would be a factor on how teams approach trades/free agency.
There will be no DH in the NL unless baseball is forced back to regional schedule.
Surprised the Union doesn't push it. They can easily get it.

Yankees money based on the head of the family who is a convicted felon. Never did I refer to the crime that he committed you Moron. The Yankees ownership has always been a disgrace.
Yeah right. FAIL! You were clueless about it.

As usual but still amazing that the zealots has made this into a Yankees Thing. They just cant leave well enough alone and stay in their thread.

Yeah some of it my fault by pointing out Yankees family money is not clean as made by a criminal. Going forward, no intention to respond to the evil and cheating empire’s supporters.

It's hard as hell to ignore them as I'm guilty as that as well. They dont need your prodding though as they kick down the door and announce their presence 95% of the time. Then has the audacity to get upset and claim being bullied when Mets fans them them to GFYs lol.

A bad trade for sure but nothing for me will ever top the Nolan Ryan trade. Seaver deal a close second.

Um Cano learned his bad habits from the filthy Yanks who had a whose who of roid ragers. Speaking of dirty, Steinbrenner was a convicted felon who also got himself suspended for trying to smear Dave Winfield. Anyone remember that? Yankees lead the league in filth but their fans try to come off as virtuous. They apparently do not understand the meaning of hypocrisy.

My Original 3 Amigos, yes that was me giving them that name, has grown to at least 7, that visit the Mets thread which, sadly, sucks me into visiting the Yankee thread and posting way more than I should. Even more sad is the fact Yankee fans really think the national Pastime still thinks of them as the Brass Ring. when so many other franchises have past them by. The Entitled, they are not, and haven't been for decades. As with anything, it's sad to see when someone is the last to know. 😛

The former owner of your team was a convicted felon and was suspended by baseball. He was pretty dirty, too.

Saying Cano was a terrible move is not exactly going on the ledge, I bet majority fans hate it like I did and do, one of the prospects we gave up is a player.
I liked getting Diaz, not Cano. Trade was made and we have to deal with it. I will say that before we put Kelenic in the HOF, remember Shawn Abner, Alex Escobar, Fernando Martinez and Lastings Milliage to name a few hyped farm hands the Mets had that didn't develop.

Who is putting anyone in the Hall of Fame?

Stinky trade made by a stinky Agent, who was hired as a sideshow by cheap owners. The good news is that’s all in our past.
