Mets still going cheap.
Realmuto >>>>> McCann
He's not $100 million better. That's not going cheap, it's being smart.

TK2 is not used to seeing our Met's make smart moves and he is not sure how to take it. McCann instantly makes the Met's better. That in itself is worth $10 mil per. Ramos was at 9.5 McCann >>>Ramos McCann plus $100 million =/> than Realmuto. No one will argue that Realmuto is not better...but many would argue which would be the smarter signing. We already have a good offense- and good as Realmuto is, he is not Carter or Piazza
T. May is also a very solid pickup at 7.5 per. Makes our BP better.
We have made 2 moves that have cost us very little and they both make us a better team.
So, let's say the Met's decide that Bauer isn't worth $25-30 mil per year. Keeping in mind he has only had 2 of his 9 years that you could call very good. But sign a couple of solid 2/3 type of SP for the equivalent $$$ ...TK2 will come back again with being cheap...That is ok, let us be cheap in a smart way like this.

The only FA that Met's have to outbid everyone for is Springer. And if McCann allows us to overspend on Springer- then it is a win win.

McCann + Springer >>>>> Realmuto
McCann + Bauer >>>>>> Realmuto
McCann + Springer + Bauer >>>> Realmuto
Realmuto + Springer + Bauer = BEST

Perhaps Cohen is partnering with Madoff on his investments? Where's the money? :)

Position players are a more reliable and predictable long term investment than pitchers.

On paper...maybe
But...Realmuto plays a position where you can decline overnight and stated he didnt want to play in NY...Is it the best to lock that much cash in on him?
But, I wouldn't have minded signing him, I would just be worried about long term.
Springer- solves so many things for the Met's. Offens/Defense/Speed and a local guy that will be a huge plus in the locker room and even if you need to move him to a coner OF position in a couple of years, he will most likely still be a very solid player - he is the must get guy
Bauer- I have said it many times already...2 of 9 season have been very good and he has been ehhh every other year. Is he really a good signing for the money he is going to get? And like Realmuto- stated he really doesn't want to play for the Met's.

This is a weak FA year. Sandy needs to be looking at the next couple of years when he is making decisions this year.

It's LeMahieu or bust as far as any big signings for the Yankee. Money is tight in the Bronx these days.

Porter as GM is officially announced. No official announcement yet on McCann or Jauss. BTW, Jauss was Jerry Manuel's bench coach back in 2010.

Eickhoff was on the verge of being a very good promising SP and I believe had a arm and/or shoulder injury several years ago and he was never the same unfortunately.

Another one of those why did you do it BVW trades. Adios
C'mon man. You know the answer to that one. BVW was trying to make the playoffs. FWIW we were not eliminated until the penultimate day of the season.

Not like we gave up a whole lot. Ryan was not even on the 60 man camp roster. Nor is he on the Top 30 prospect list.

This leaves only Drew Smith remaining from the fire sale of 2017.
