Well since evidently the mlpa has nixed the dh in the NL and extra playoffs maybe another bat does not make sense for the Mets unless they are also trading someone.
That’s a real educated guess given they are among the few teams spending serious coin. Maybe they should have included the yanks or dodgers as well to really hedge their bets.
If that is the case it looks like Dom in left, Conforto in right and Nimmo in Center. Not the best defensive outfield ever assembled. Most likely Davis at 3rd, Lindor at SS, Mcneil at 2B and Pete at first. Aside from Lindor, the D will be a challenge.
We are going to have to live with poor D this year and why I think we should go get the best possible late game defensive replacement at this point.
We are going to have to outscore and out pitch them this year.
But...even with that said- we are vastly improved. A huge part of the season will be what we get from Noah in the 2nd half. Will he be a non factor or will he be like a trading deadline pickup that can carry you. If he comes back strong- that is a hell of a starting staff. Lugo back to the pen is huge as well.

I think it is still too early to conclude that there will be no DH. The MLBPA did nix the MLB offer of universal DH for expanded playoffs. But it's quite possible that MLB will enact it anyway.
But assuming you are right, then there's no point in giving JBJ an eight figure multiyear contract, because you're not starting him anyway. Just sign a late inning defensive replacement who can pinch hit if needed. Re-upping Marisnick wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.
Don't be shocked (as Olney speculated) if the Mets decide to improve their 3B defense by acquiring Bryant for Davis plus. Do I like that trade? Depends on the plus.
If an off-season baseball acquisition prompts you to throw a bowl of spaghetti at your TV screen, maybe you need to assess how far away YOU are from imploding? 😉
Yeah, Sandy's not coming out of this off-season with Dom in LF AND Davis at 3B. One or the other at most.
Is KB considered a plus defensive 3B? And what does his salary do to us?
I like Davis a lot and he seems like a good clubhouse guy but his defense makes it tough.
but Bryant in this lineup would be dynamic. Also agree that Marsinick would be a good player to bring back at this point.
regardless- I would not want to be pitching against us this year.
I highly doubt that there is a universal DH this year. Unless Covid changes the season again.

The reporting of late has been pretty terrible. I get that everyone wants to be first to break a story but at least have something to support it.
I suspect on the Bauer news this is a result of his agent putting out the story. She’s new to repping athletes.

1) Bauer in the rotation with deGrom, Carasco, Stroman , luchasi and then Thor would be great...
2) Bauer for near $40 mil would not be worth it unless Cohen is completely willing to say F the LT...Bauer is a $20 mil guy at best. deGrom is a $40 mil guy so what are we going to do with him? Does Cohen resign him at 41? Do we still spend big on Conforto? Sign Lindor? and then have a $250 mil payroll?
Either sounds like his agent or sounds like Sandy getting desperate.
