Beltran had so many huge HR’s and moments fir the Mets. It is a shame so many only remember his strikeout and forget he may be in the top 5 greatest Met players.
but…none of his HR’s are more well known in any circle than Mookie’s hit between Buckner’s legs. Come on man
I didn’t say it was . I said beltran’s at bat may be more memorable , especially to any met fan under 40 . That is certainly a fair debate. Cmon man.

That is the dumbest comment ever. 1986 was 35 years ago.
mask 100 Met’s fan of any age what is the most famous hit of all time. It will be overwhelmingly Mookie. I have been a fan all my life and Beltran’s didn’t even enter my mind unless you asked me too 5 hits where I would have to think about it. And even I see that curveball against St Louis before his HR comes to mind and I love Beltran as a Met player.
and if you went around the country and asked the same thing- Mookie is at least 90%

Huh ?
What does that have to do with Buckner's error ?
At least Buckner was supposed to be on the field of play, Maher wasn’t. Any other team, that would’ve been an out and Magen would’ve been escorted out. Not become a cult hero.

Let’s wait until he’s actually hired until this statement is made
Whether Sabean is actually hired is irrelevant to what I am saying. You and others have said that no credible candidate would ever consider the Mets as long as Alderson was around. That has already been proven false.

Wow are you that dense ? I never said beltran’s was a famous hit.

What a dumb ass. Shouldn't you be out buying a big screen TV to watch the Astros in the World Series? 😁 Can we start the ticker on the off season threads of how many fans cross over into each others threads? I'll say it ends up 2 -1 with a Yankees invasion.

Ok then- switch memorable for famous…same hold true. Still not even close. I bet if you even ask Carlos, he would tell you Mookie’s was more memorable in Met’s history.
but nice try deflecting

Famous and memorable are completely different meanings ! I said to a Mets fan under 40, Beltran’s at bat could possibly be more memorable as they were old enough to see it and may have been at the game. But is it more memorable or famous than mookie’s? No

‘Whatever you need to make this team better.’ - wish we did that when we were still ahead of them in the standings. 🤦‍♂️

I'm good with big screen TVs. What are you gonna be watching the Braves in the World Series on ?
The Mets 2 World Series wins in 59 years is pretty sad. Tough to be a Mets fan.

Whatever you want to call it and regardless of age- Beltran HR<Mookie to Buckner.
and even if someone saw 1 live and not the other…you are out of your mind.
memorable baseball AB’s in WS/Playoffs
You have Bill Maz/Gibson/Fisk/Boone/Mookie/Carter/Gonzalez maybe a few others- but those are the ones that would come up in discussion- not Beltran

Yeah, that had to be the WORST performance by a front office in the history of the MLB Trade Deadline. Mets did absolutely nothing to improve that team and it cost them. And it’s amazing that Sandy (WITH HIS HANDPRINTS ALL OVER THIS TEAM) is still around.

Well, if, a big if, the Braves win it, that would be 2 out of the last 3 World Series Champions from The NL Least as you like to call it.😁

Still waiting for all the championships the new Yankees core 4 were going to get.
Personally, I never thought there would be another "core 4" winning all the championships.
I hear about it all the time from RedSux fans.
But when your team hasn't won one since 1986 you really should just shut up.

Mets fans rooting for teams in their division to win ? Sad.
And BTW it WAS the NL Least this season. For most of 2021 it looked like the team that won that division could end up with a losing record.
Also, who had more wins during the season...the Yankees or the Braves ?

This conversation started as a mets memorable at bat . Someone asked what other memorable mets at bats there were. . Of course beltran’s at-bat isn’t as memorable as mookie’s , but it’s one of the more memorable at-bats in mets post season history . Agree ?
I am also surprised I didn’t see Pratt’s homer , but may have missed it.

To be technical, I said when I posted the video that it was the greatest at-bat, not the most memorable. There's a difference, of course.

Yes you did . And I responded to this post from rubaseball : “That is not the greatest at bat. A significant event, but not greatest at bat.”

I then mentioned that Beltran’s at-bat was also significant and “may be more memorable in some circles.”

Red Sux. Lol. Since 2004, they’re your Daddy !

When are the Yankees getting a trophy for that? Look how far you've set the bar.

Thank you. I guess I could move the conversation back to whether Mookie's was the greatest at-bat, but I'd prefer not to for reasons I won't go into.

On another subject: I think you Mets fans ought to stop responding to the Yankees fans who come on this site and make fun of the Mets. You guys are feeding trolls; you are giving them exactly what they want.

Correct. They’re no worse than Rutgers Al.

Sort of like Syracuse saying they had more yards in our game so they won.

How is that at all like it ?
Are you really that dense? Syracuse didn't win, the Yankees didn't get out of a WC game. Ask Braves fans what they think of your comment, lol. Don't you have anything to talk about in the Yankee thread? No one wants you in here since you bring nothing to the table. Go dream about maybe seeing #28 before you pushup daisy's.

Too funny. Now you are hanging your hat on regular season wins. How the mighty have fallen. Yanks are now into their 2nd decade without even a WS appearance but the good news for you, they have won a lot of regular season games.

The Pratt HR is well up at the top. Beltran does have a lot of big HR’s too.
we will leave it at that and move on.
speaking of which, it made me do sort of a mental flash of moments that stick out over the years for me. Without thinking, these are the mental images that pop up in no particular order.
Mookie/Buckner, Piazza game after 911, Swabia, Mays pleading at home base, C Jones catching final 1969 out, knee down, Buddy/Rose, Beltran strikeout, Orosco throws glove up, Hahn/Theodore collision
I am sure so many more but those are the ones that come up instant for me in a lifetime of Mets fandom.

I've said many times that every day that the Yankees win my day is a little better. And every day that the Mets lose it's also a little better as well. Sure I would have liked them to advance farther in the playoffs, but I'm doing OK. Wild card games are a crap shoot anyway.
Now I've gotta figure why I'm wasting my time with some Mets fan knucklehead who somehow equates me mentioning how many more games the Yanks won than the Braves with a 'Cuse fan talking about yards gained in one game. Fans of the Amazins are so funny.

Here’s a suggestion: stop being a troll on the Rutgers Al level and you’ll be an ok person lol.
