Doesn’t make it any less disappointingIf he didn't want to come we can't force him. Mendoza has a very good reputation as well.
Mets have hired Carlos Mendoza.
He made that reputation with the Big Club in the Bronx. If he didn't want to come we can't force him. Mendoza has a very good reputation as well.
Counsell is reportedly going to the Cubs, which if true came out of nowhere.Mets have hired Carlos Mendoza.
Counsell wanted to remain with the Brewers.
Is it really a bad thing? For every strong outing, there is a stinker. I don't think I can take another slider that starts out of the strike zone and ends up 4 feet off the plate. Plus, he up there is age.Adam Ottavino opts out of his deal with the Mets and will now be a FA. That is a bit of a surprise.
Just one more arm we need to sign. You knew what you were getting from Ottavino and goal was to push him down a bit. Not great but also not terrible. Is it really a bad thing? If Ottavino just became a piece of the bullpen and not relied on to be the closer or setup guy, I would have been ok with him staying.Just one more arm we need to sign. You knew what you were getting from Ottavino and goal was to push him down a bit. Not great but also not terrible.
Yeah not like the guy has countless rings on his mantle (unlike Bochy).I like that Cohen didn’t get into a bidding war over a manager. Why would you?
Joe Torre has a bunch of rings on his fingers, except from when he coached four other teams and suddenly was a bad to mediocre manager.Yeah not like the guy has countless rings on his mantle (unlike Bochy).
Hopefully in a couple of years, you'll be complaining he was the one that got away. 😎He made that reputation with the Big Club in the Bronx.
No. Buck was that one.Hopefully in a couple of years, you'll be complaining he was the one that got away. 😎
Not to the stadium.Mets owner planning $8b upgrades to the stadium. What a waste of money.
He should donate it to feed the country’s hungry.
Lindor wins!Tonight the Silver Slugger awards are announced. Mets nominees are Lindor and Alonso. I think Lindor deserves selection. I doubt Alonso will be selected over Olson and Freeman though.
Yamamoto’s latest start. 138 pitches, 9 innings, 1 earned run, 0 walks, 14ks
I would much rather get Yamamoto- While we all have to respect SO- he will not be pitching this year and he is 100% a DH...Bob Nightingale of USA Today is reporting that Yamamoto is the Mets #1 target. He says that the Mets are resigned to the fact that they have no realistic chance of landing Ohtani.
Granted SO is a special player. I would not spend the amount to get him for a pitcher coming off Tommy John plus having to miss a year and a DH.I would much rather get Yamamoto- While we all have to respect SO- he will not be pitching this year and he is 100% a DH...
I would rather spend 200 mil on a starting pitcher and have the other 300 mil to fill in the holes we need to fill.
Curious from some of you- What are the thoughts after 2023 on the kids we brought up-
Alvarez is obviously our starting Catcher in 2024 and beyond.
Baty/Vientos ??????? Give them 2024 and almost be relying on them or dangle them in a trade?
Mauricio - what is he?
Agree completely- the guy is amazing...and if it was a Judge type contract, maybe. But 500+ mil - OH HELL NOGranted SO is a special player. I would not spend the amount to get him for a pitcher coming off Tommy John plus having to miss a year and a DH.
The "no realistic chance" is based on the assumption that he won't leave the West Coast which then was followed by articles that he's intrigued with Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago, as well as another that the Mets will be leading contenders in going after both him and Yamomoto due to Cohen having the deepest pockets. All BS reporting as always until things actually start rolling. Bottom line will be the money combined with where he feels he fits... every single team in the majors would like him on their roster, he's a GOAT level two-way player in his prime with unmatched international marketing star-power.Bob Nightingale of USA Today is reporting that Yamamoto is the Mets #1 target.
