Ummmm- yes, he IS the one. This guy has it all AND he is already loving it here. He is a top player with a personality that will be as big as any other player we have ever had...Question, is Lindor the one to give the $300 million plus contract to now with options like Story, Baez, Correa and Seager all potential FA's after the season?
Lindor wants to be here and he is embracing the moment. We saw this past off-season where big free agents passed on the money from the Mets. Not everyone is built to handle NY. Also, who is to say those guys won't re-sign with their current teams.Question, is Lindor the one to give the $300 million plus contract to now with options like Story, Baez, Correa and Seager all potential FA's after the season?
This is my go to, and there are others such at metsmerized.I have to start keeping current with this thread. Since The Star Ledger/NJ.Com have evidently decided not to cover the Mets I need to get my info from a reliable source.
Huge aspect of this...I do not think Realmuto wanted any part of NYC. Bauer would have but he would have been a disaster. I think Springer would have been ok but he seems a little more laid back.Lindor wants to be here and he is embracing the moment. He will be 37 at the end of the deal. I really hope they don't offer any more years. His ability to cover ground at short will be greatly diminished at the end of the deal.10 year $325 million offer to Lindor.
Most likely at 3B at that time...But you make that deal!He will be 37 at the end of the deal. I really hope they don't offer any more years. His ability to cover ground at short will be greatly diminished at the end of the deal.
Hope you’re right.I agree that we are questionable at this point with SP- deGrom/Stroman are a good 1/2 but complete unknown after that until Carrasco/Noah are back in the mix.
RP- I am not sure I agree- Betances is trouble, as is Familia's control. But Diaz looks like 2018- May/Loup/Castro/ give us 4 very good guys in there- and a few others have been performing well too. When Lugo comes back- it is also like when we get our 2 starters back- it will be like 3 major trade pickups.
Defense- we all know is not going to be a great asset. We will have to get past that and hope late inning replacements can do their jobs. Back up catcher- Nido has grown on me a bit but unless we lose McCann for a long period- it is not going to be a difference maker. How many teams have a top notch BU catcher.
Manager- agree, he has a lot to prove but it seems they all get managed by the front office geeks anyway.
I can see us hovering in the plus 5 games area going into the break. But then see us make a huge 2nd have push. We should have the pitching boost and if all 3 come back strong- it may become the best staff in the league. But that is s big if. Worst case- we have a few studs but over all in the middle of the pack in pitching. Hitting- I think we are a leader in most categories again except for SB's.
My over/under is 92
If Lindor turns down deal, he won’t make any friends for sure. He’d be an imbecile to turn down deal.
He should accept it. For a guy who has has 2 seasons of hitting 0.300 and higher and never had RBI's above 92, he should accept it hands down. All the other guys in the top contract list have had better numbers. If Lindor turns down deal, he won’t make any friends for sure. He’d be an imbecile to turn down deal.
RBI is not a stat that you should be looking at when evaluating players. He should accept it. For a guy who has has 2 seasons of hitting 0.300 and higher and never had RBI's above 92, he should accept it hands down. All the other guys in the top contract list have had better numbers.

Yeah- the back ends of these deals are never good. Those years are more about financial security for the player. Hope by then his bat hasn't slowed down too much, he can play another position, or the universal DH is a fixture. Most likely at 3B at that time...But you make that deal!
RIP. I read Yogi was really high on him. If Yogi had not gotten fired he may have had time to help him work out his wildness. From what I remember of him he had a live arm.Randy Tate reported dead from Covid at 68.
I like it! If up to me, I'd get a calendar, write deGrom's name in ink every fifth day, and then figure everything else out around that.Rotation set.
deGrom @ Nats
Stroman
Peterson
Walker @ Phillies
deGrom
Luchessi (or opener)
Stroman (home opener)
The hope is always that at the backend of the deal, they have already brought you to the payoffs at least 8 of those years and a couple of Rings. If they do that- it paid off in spades for the team.Yeah- the back ends of these deals are never good. Those years are more about financial security for the player. so we only lost one minor league team? I thought 120 minor league teams were cut.In case you care about the minors, as I do, here's a summary of what's next:
Here's the minor league club breakdown:
- The minor leagues will start play on or about May 4.
- For the month of April, teams will operate an alternate site as last year. The Mets alternate site will be in Brooklyn as last year. Teams will be allowed to carry up to 28 players at their alternate site, plus injury rehabs of which the Mets have five. The alternate site players can play scrimmages against other alternate sites. Then in May, the alternate site will be disbanded and the players will report to their minor league teams.
- For the dozens of Met minor leaguers who were not invited to MLB winter camp and/or alternate site, their spring training starts now. They will report to St. Lucie on Thursday I think. After a month of training, they too will report to their minor league clubs.
- AAA - Syracuse - same as last year.
- AA - Binghamton - same as last year.
- High A - Brooklyn - was St. Lucie last year.
- Low A - St. Lucie - was Columbia last year.
- Short A - DISCONTINUED - was Brooklyn last year.
- Rookie - Gulf Coast Mets, I THINK they will field two teams - Was Kingsport and Gulf Coast last year.
- Latino Rookie - Two teams in Dominican Summer League.
They’ll be a DH in NL by then.He will be 37 at the end of the deal. I really hope they don't offer any more years. His ability to cover ground at short will be greatly diminished at the end of the deal.

I don't think 120 minor league teams were cut. I think 120 minor league teams remain. Each team has four: AAA, AA, High A, and Low A. Short A and Rookie League are gone.so we only lost one minor league team? I thought 120 minor league teams were cut.
True but I would assume that would be Alonso's role. They’ll be a DH in NL by then.
Have to sign Conforto, Thor, Stroman, and even degrom if 2/3 of the pitchers have standout seasons.Presumably they considered this and answered yes before deciding to trade for him. While they seemed to get a pretty good deal they paid more than a one year rental price. They knew this was likely a $300MM investment.
Not sure Cohen is doing himself any favors by talking to the press about this at all. Having said that, I think 10/325 is a more than fair offer and Lindor needs to decide what he wants to do. He has been charming and probably has the media and fan base on his side but this is a business decision for Cohen, since he still has try and get Conforto signed as well. Sounds like that might going slow as well. He may have a big piggy bank but he did not get that by making dumb decisions.
Shame...remember when he first made the Mets there were Nolan Ryan comparisons....RIPRandy Tate reported dead from Covid at 68.
