I think ideally, Carrasco is in the rotation and Peterson is in the pen.
I agree as Carasco has been a starter for so long now, a move may damage him more...but...if Peterson is still pitching this well and Carasco is still struggling...deGrom/Max/Bassit/Walker/Pederson is one heck of a rotation. Also a rotation made for a huge playoff run

Geez
I was really looking forward to pumping up dHRU for doing a great job today.
He has got to turn it around after the break

This is not a repeat of last year. Clearly, the Mets are better, and Atlanta is too reliant on the long ball. All 8 runs were scored on 6 home runs. The Mets' starters kept Atlanta's hitters in check. It was the bullpen that allowed Atlanta to score. I can't wait until the Mets get deGrom, Megill, Marte, and McNeil. It should help the Mets to separate themselves from Atlanta.

Could have very easily have been a sweep. But I'll take it. They can start looking like the juggernaut they've been hyped up to be here and elsewhere now that they are about to play the Nats again.

Big W !!
Someone is going to make the first big move during break or right out of it

Go get Josh Bell !
I think it will be very hard for the Mets to make a significant deal. Their farm system is topheavy with little depth. They may have a small handful of top end prospects (Mauricio?) whom they are willing to trade. But sellers don't always want prospects. They want young, controllable players with an MLB track record. Mets have few if any of these guys. Maybe Tylor Megill?

Also, with the expanded playoff system there will be very few teams out of it by July 31. More buyers than sellers = sellers market.

Mets best chance may be to find somebody looking to dump salary.

We take 2 of 3 from The World Champs at their place, with 2 of our All Stars not playing a second. The rumors of our demise were premature. Lead back to 2.5 over "The World Champs" to those that like to count, lmfao.

Trivia Time!

There are no currently active Mets who were on the 2015 World Series roster. (There is deGrom of course, but he is not currently active.)

HOWEVER, there are SIX 2015 Mets from the WS roster who are currently active major leaguers elsewhere. Without looking, how many can you name?

EXTRA CREDIT: There are two other 2015 Mets who began the season on MLB rosters, but are no longer. Can you name them too?

Familia, Matz, d’Arnaud, Syndergaard, Flores, Plawecki

Robles, Harvey?
Correct on the six! You got Plawecki who I think was the toughest. Actually as of today there is a seventh. I just saw that the Nats called up Tyler Clippard. I had no idea he was still pitching, but he is.

Robles and Juan Lagares are the two who started the year in the majors, but are no longer. Lagares is now playing in Korea. He has the distinction of being the last Met to win a Gold Glove (2014).

Harvey is serving his 60 day suspension for involvement in illicit drugs. He has not pitched in the majors this year. Whether he does again is uncertain.

Agreed. The Mets might not need to make a bullpen move if DeGrom comes back and the other starters stay healthy. DeGrom, Max, Cookie, Bass and Walker are a very solid 5 man rotation. Peterson and Megill might be able to take the 7th and 8th and be a bridge to Diaz. A bat is probably an easier and less expensive lift.

Vientos is the guy who should be up here. Not Alvarez, which at this point is just crazy talk.
Agreed 100%. In reading the tea leaves though I think they're going to use Vientos as their big trade chip. There's no reason he shouldn't be up just for his power but maybe they're not as high on him. I don't understand why they wouldn't have called him up a few weeks ago.

For a host of reasons, I'm not optimistic about Vientos being the answer this year. To me, he's a good prospect, not great, and its a crapshoot that he'd perform this year. I'm much more aligned with using $$$ and lesser prospects or whatever to pry away a good professional right handed hitter, if at all possible. That's what the Mets have--$$$--and the Mets need to deal with teams looking to unload salary, one way or the other. It'll be that way until the Mets can rebuild their system. And we definitiely need bullpen help, and likely more than one. Sure, I like the idea of DeGrom coming back, creating a powerful roation, and using Megill and Peterson in the pen. But that presumes that no starters miss games, requiring rotation fill-ins (who's really confident that DeGrom won't have another issue after he returns?). We need to add arms to the pen, and if turns out that for this year Peterson and Megill can pitch there too, great.
