Why? If he can hit at major league level - he ll be a DH for this year and catcher for 2023. Team needs power and offensive surge. Lets focus on now - not 2023.I hope "sooner rather than later" means early 2023 instead of late 2023.
Agreed. I wonder if it made sense to pitch Diaz on Sunday In a tie game though I understand the rationale and not knowing whether Diaz would be needed on Monday. Tonight it’s Lugo time hopefully !There is 0 % chance they use Diaz a 4th day in a row.
It will be Lugo tonight. Smith and Holderman setup I would imagine.
For Doctor Worm:Lugo ERA back to back days is around 10.3
Lugo ERA after at least one day rest is around 2.3
Stat was shown other night and I don’t remember exact but it was 10 something and 2 something
I've been thinking the same thing because if the nibbler starts nibbling and falling behind in counts constantly he will be giving up long balls. Hopefully he can stay ahead and then go outside of the zone with sliders down and in because as Gary Cohen pointed out this team will chase. But they are also lethal on hit me fastballs down the heart of the plate. Their guy is an unknown to us because it might be our first time facing him.
Going to be a tough one with that lineup. I have faith though!
Not really any different than last night other than Dom for JD and Mazeika for Nido. And of course the guy on the mound.Going to be a tough one with that lineup. I have faith though!
I've never seen him pitch before all I know is he's known as a hard thrower. But we've faced flame throwers all year. A lot of times it's been deception that has given us the most trouble. Moreso from lefties. How is his secondary stuff? His walks to k's ratio. Because we will work some counts.Yes, and their guy has been lights out, ours hasn't.
He only shifted to starter at the end of May. The Giants hit him in one game in late June: 6 runs in 3.2 innings. In his next three starts against the Dodgers, Reds and Cardinals, he's gone: 18 innings, 8 hits, 2 run, 30 Ks, 3 walks.Okay his game starts have been against Arizona, Colorado, Pitt, Wash, SF, Cinn, and one against LAD. Some weak sauce in there with a couple of exceptions. Let's see how he looks tonight and going forward.
They may need to pull him by the 3rd inning if he takes 10 pitches per batter like he did against Nimmo.I haven't seen the kid pitch even once. This is what I've seen:
65 innings
102Ks
25 walks
39 hits
0.97 WHIP
2.60 ERA
I look forward to watching tonight and possibly seeing how he's been doing it. But one thing's for sure. He's been doing it.
The Braves minor leagues keep producing.
I was off by 1 2/3They may need to pull him by the 3rd inning if he takes 10 pitches per batter like he did against Nimmo.
4 2/3 🤣Strider question ….
Reliever who hasn’t pitched that much over the past 3 years ….does he have an innings limit ??
Will he last 150-200 innings at this all star level ?
I doubt he will pitch tonight. The Mets announcers alluded to it last night. The Braves manager was willing to give up a run in the 9th inning and have Diaz pitch the ninth so that he would not be available tonight and possibly on Wednesday. Braves probably came into the series knowing that their best chances to win would be winning games 2 and 3.With that said, can he pitch today for a 4th day in a row?
Lugo struggles to go one inning. 😢Lugo is officially a problem
Can only go one inning and can’t go 2 days in a row
That's been the story for the last month. Thus the inconsistent offense and around .500 record during that time-frame. We have some guys with warning track power. Need more with home-run power.Plenty of traffic on the bases, but the lack of timely hitting prevented the Mets from scoring more. Also, the minute Lugo entered the game, I figured the Braves would tack on runs.
We need a more productive player at 3rd base. That's been the story for the last month. Thus the around .500 record during that time-frame. We have some guys with warning track power. Need more with home-run power.
And everyone else is complaining only about Lugo.Plenty of traffic on the bases, but the lack of timely hitting prevented the Mets from scoring more. Also, the minute Lugo entered the game, I figured the Braves would tack on runs.
