OT: PAC-2 About To Raid The Mountain West

Utah State has been better than Rutgers for the better part of the last decade+.

I am certain that our sports programs would smoke Utah State head to head, across the board, but especially in football.

Having a slightly better football record over the last 10 years while playing a vastly inferior schedule does nothing to prove your point.
This year, sure.

Past years, nah.

They had a much better record some of those years. And they played some top brands close.

And their basketball has also been more successful.

Regardless, it takes some unwarranted hubris for an RU fan to look so condescendingly on other programs.

Disagree all you want. Right now this isn’t eleven the best of what’s left conference. Why would AAC schools pay the penalty to leave to go to another G league that doesn’t even have a TV deal? At best the reconfigured PAC may be able to draw a couple of third tier Texas schools.
Apparently I was wrong. The PAC has only been able to draw a third tier Utah school so far.

They should’ve taken UNLV in the first go, even if they were trying for AAC schools. No time for them to think it over and the MWC to use exit fees and takes away the big market for them.

Somewhere down the line they can still probably get UNLV when the exit fee money runs out but could’ve had them now.

So if no UNLV now, then look again near 2032. The exit fee money incentive won't be there at that time.

Tarleton State is a bit of a shocker. But who knows? Texas is crazy for football. Maybe Tarelton State has some oil barons.

Sac State to PAC 12 is getting some play. I had always thought UC Davis was the more likely program to move up, but Sac State boosters seem serious. Their NIL group is called SAC-12.

I’ve also been skeptical, but there’s always been a part of Sacramento hungry for big-time sports. All it takes is a couple of tech bros.

Until two weeks ago, I never had Sac State and Big-time athletics in a single thought.

Enrollment-13,000
Part of the Texas A&M System
Looks like Dallas-Fort Worth would be about 80 miles or so from Stephensville
Cotton Bowl Stadium would be 110 miles away
Former Kentucky, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M basketball coach Billy Gillespie is their head basketball coach

Grand Canyon would maintain a presence in the Phoenix market. I believe they were recently a for-profit school that switched to the non-profit model used by ever other D1 program.
Here’s a fun story about them. Their women’s soccer coach has one arm. Interesting dude, actually played pro soccer with one arm. One night we were at a tournament and we started talking at the hotel bar. After a good number of beers I said to him, I’ve drank with a lot of soccer coaches at these tournaments. You are the only one who didn’t change out of his gear or try to keep a Low profile. He looks at me and says “dude, I have one f$cking arm. You think taking off my purple shirt and hat are going to hide my identity.” I almost fell off my stool.

Yes they were allowed to keep their traditional name when the joined the A&M system…like prairie view was… the fact that such a school was led into the Pac 12 is very L O L worthy🤭
