Work is open here in Wayne, I'm in. Wife is off, schools in Clifton closed. Isn't there a state of emergency or something?
As of 7:30 am we're up to 1.75" (about 3/4" in the last hour - would've thought it was 1" per hour rates, but the ruler never lies, lol) and it's still 31F. It's just ripping out there - borderline heavy - this is going to be an awesome storm to watch from my recliner. But I also urge folks to get out and about in it - words don't do justice to how gorgeous it is out there right now. Can't wait for enough snow to make a good snow angel, lol...Originally posted by RU848789:
As of 6:30 am, we finally have 1" on the ground, 2.5 hours after it started, and temps have dropped to 31F. Snow falling moderately to almost heavily right now (visib slightly more than 1/4 mile) - gorgeous flakes. Was just outside for a walk and it's great snowball snow, at this time. Models show us snowing at a good clip until at least 1-2 pm, so hopefully we'll get to 6" (4" seems pretty certain to get to the 4-8" forecast range).
Absolutely great point. I'm just about to go out and do my first shoveling for that exact reason (plus it gives me an excuse to be outside in the snow).Originally posted by WhiteBus:
Highly recommend getting out now and removing bottom layer ASAP. If you are in areas like here where there was a steady rain before the change over you can save your self a big problem later. This made for a thick layer of slush almost instantly. Even with about a 1/4 of an inch it's wet and heavy. With the temps plummeting thru the day this bottom layer could be a thick layer of ice.
Snow seems to be tiny light beads instead of flakes at this point.
Philly TV has only reduced forecast from last night from 4-7 to 4-6 this morning and still calling for 6-8 in the heart of south Jersey. So even with the late start no big change
Well if you been reading this thread from the beginning there is no doubt where my here is AbroOriginally posted by Abro1975:
So many people write 'here' without saying where 'here' actually is, thus making their info nearly useless, lol.
Followed your advice, but even though it was steady rain out here at the shore, no slush underneath. I'm hanging inside and will hit the driveway with the snow blower when it stops.Originally posted by WhiteBus:

Excellent call. I'm pretty close to White Bus in Bucks Cty PA. and I just got in from shoveling a solid 2" of slush that would have been a bear to clean up if I waited. Coming down hard, Fox Philly says 5-8" for our area. John Bolaris has 6-8". Either way we still have a way to go.Originally posted by WhiteBus:

I think like most dogs, she loves it. Scarlet turns into a 6 moth old puppy on a day like this. However she wants to eat the snow as well which isn't a good idea. Especially for a Great Danes who have sensitive digestive systems. Which is also why I don't let her have any people food at the tailgates.Originally posted by Abro1975:
I know where your 'here' is Whitebus, but that's from knowing you a bit, lol. This thread way toooo long to start from the beginning. PS- How is Scarelett in the snow?
PPS- Snowing hard now 'here' in NW Essex County, about to text my manager and say roads are too dangerous to be on the driving all day (sales). Will do Admin work from home.
That's just silly. Sounds like they are working off an older forecast.Originally posted by camdenlawprof:
Rutgers continues to say it will open at noon, so I will go in to school. Yes, that means staff will be coming in at the height of the storm. As with other areas, Cherry Hill changed over late, and I still can't be sure that it's all snow.
I may be wrong and I am sure I will hear about if I am but I don't think state of emergency means you can't drive unless they specifically put that into place. It usually just means allocating extra emergency personalOriginally posted by RULoyal:
